@@amc1140 can't say I'm really too familiar with 2021 pop punk music but most of it I probably wouldn't care for even if there is some I would. I like all sorts of music, lots of stuff from all different eras, stuff from 50 years ago, stuff from today. But yeah I would say I probably prefer the older 90s/early 2000s pop punk even if a lot of it was crap I have a soft spot for some classic pop punk from that era, very nostalgic, and like 90s/early 2000s poppy punk/skate punk.

Cameron I think part of the change is primarily the bands got older and matured. Tom DeLonge mentioned that’s in part why he left blink. As these bands got older it was inevitable they would mature and sing less about rebelling and getting drunk. Granted getting drunk and rebelling are the reasons I love punk pop, but maturity like death is inevitable.

I stopped singing along after 2007ish. I knew the album covers of the songs that came after but I just don't know the material. Except for Joyce manor with constant headache (god I love that song and the band is awesome too). It kinda sucks because I'm a teenager who doesn't really like the newer sounds of pop punk, but I've gone to concerts of the older bands and they just aren't fresh and exciting. Although some bands like green day and the offspring are always great to see live. Now warped tour is ending and I'm scared of that means for music. Right now my favorite place to see live bands is Musink fest. Also great video and i like your knuckle puck shirt. keep up the good work

yes thank you, this is what i’ve been trying to convey to everybody who keeps saying that everything before 1997 shouldn’t be included. i know they’re punk bands, everybody knows they’re punk bands but they are the roots of the genre and what everybody was influenced by

Blake McConnell the music transitions were good. I meant letting us see the whole riff with no camera changes in the middle of the riff would make this more pleasing to watch
@BlakeMcConnellMusic
@BlakeMcConnellMusic 6 жыл бұрын
i see what you’re saying but most of the progressions and riffs just repeat so once you seen it once that’s about it. i was just trying to do what was most time efficient seeing as this is a longer video and adding stops and what not would probably add another 1-2 minutes of time with nothing going on. but i will definitely look into trying to make something like that work out with the video clips in the future

yea some of these songs are definitely not pop punk. for example: My Chemical Romance is certainly not pop punk; more like emo punk. Also +44 is so far from pop punk. that album is a totally different style and fits better into the broad "Alternative Rock" genre.

idk about the official definition but for me skate punk was always a subgenre of pop punk. it has poppy melodies anyway
@Lucas-kn4zu
@Lucas-kn4zu 6 жыл бұрын
Descendents, Offspring and blink-182 are without doubt pop punk bands. Descendents were instrumental in creating many pop punk tropes we see today, and the latter two haven't made a skate punk record since their early years. Either way, modern skate punk is still very much pop-influenced, only in a different style. "Pure skate punk" is pretty reductive, because the label in itself is quite broad in its own right - some skate punk bands lend from thrash metal, others are more raw and more overtly political than the poppier bands.
