Nice mate. It's great to see a care guide from someone who has actually kept the fish themselves.

Thank you Blake. I have 1 Tropheus duboisii from a group of African cichlids I purchased from a local fish hobbyist. He/she is in a 150 gallong tank with about 20 Lake Mawali peacocks that are mixed with some Tanganikan's like Black Calvus and Frontosa. Because of the difference in diet do you recommend a separate species tank? I do put veggie pellets in with my food mix of bug bites and Northfin Jumbo and I also feed pieces of spirulina sheet daily but I'm worried the Tropheus will not get it.

I have a question. Should i keep a colony in a 60 gallon tank but 3 foot long? Because some say the aquarium should be at least 1.50 meters long.

Nice video. What is the best medication when they get bloaty? Also what is the best staple food? i generally feed Hikari sinking cichlid excel and Hikari Algae Waffers. Both are good source of Spiruluna.
@ruthwalker517912 күн бұрын
I do feed Northfin kelp wafers and veggie pellets but these Hikari are a good suggestion. Thank you!

Hola soy de argentina quería saber si pued emezclsr tropheus bemba con tropheus ikola?
@goofofff2 жыл бұрын
Is it almost expected to have a few casualties when establishing a new tropheus colony?
@BlakesAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Yeah pretty much unfortunately. Very aggressive fish
@fuxington2 жыл бұрын
A big tip is not getting too few at the beginning. I would recommend 15 or more at least when starting a colony.
@goofofff2 жыл бұрын
@@fuxington damn thought I could do it with less, but now after 4 years in the hobby I've decided that I'll take a break, I'll be selling off all of my tanks etc. And the remaining tropheus to a friend or sold

New to African Cichlids. Had a friend give me fish. Had 4, 3 died on me the first day. have a Duboisi left. What are good tank mates? Only have a 45 gallon tank

Great vid mate. What % would you consider food to be too proteiny?
@BlakesAquatics2 жыл бұрын
anything north of 37% mate
@vinodhd1010 ай бұрын
Protein based pellets generally would lead the fish to bloat and float at the top... lifeless. :P
@BlakesAquatics10 ай бұрын
Not all protein is equal but yeah for the most part thats true
