Selling the hybrid? That’s disappointing. You went through a lot to get it. Would have been nice to have a hybrid with gas prices skyrocketing.

Not that I’m judging Blake, but it just seems to me like his cars come and go. I think he doesn’t necessarily like settling on one for couple years, which again is fine. It could be for business reasons too. Most of the time he sells a car, he makes a profit off it. If you do that for long enough, next thing you know you’re driving Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces

I can count on 3 fingers the cars I lost money on out of the 50+ I’ve had in the last few years. It’s not that they’re bad cars, If I see a good used car at a good price, I buy it and drive it for a minute- do some quick clean up / maintenance and advertise it online for sale at a price I’m comfortable letting the car go at. If they buy it, cool. If they don’t, I’ll continue to drive it and enjoy until it sells. Same thing goes with the maverick, I got offered a stupid amount of money for it, money that would allow me to part with it and make everything I went through worth it. So as of now I am selling it and am content with it. Hope that gave you some more insight!

That's pretty similar looking to the time I ran our Prius out of gas on the interstate. We knew it would be close and we lost the gas engine just short of the off-ramp and had enough battery to limp into a gas station. Surprised to hear your selling it. I'm still waiting for mine.

Last time I ran a car out of gas was as a broke teen in 1977. There is no excuse nowadays. I have a Maverick Hybrid on order, and with 500 plus miles to a tank, I'm pretty sure I can find a gas station long before I run out. 😂

So basically, it's Not an EV after gas is gone, but you can get to a safe pull off. I'm good with that. Treat it like a normal Out Of Gas vehicle and you'll be fine. The battery/hybrid deal is for city acceleration to get you the great 'combined' mpg. Which is why I'm considering the Maverick, but.... this video was greatly helpful cuz I wondered what the Out of gas deal would be. Very helpful video.

I have driven a LOT more than 1.5 miles on all electric. It all depends upon the driving conditions and how charged the battery is before it goes to all electric. Since he had it on Sport mode, it was most likely using both Gas and Electric to give it just that much more power. They supplement the power with electric especially when in Sport mode. So by the time he started actually driving on electric only with no gasoline left the hybrid battery was most like also mostly drained.

Don't make a habit of running the gas tank to near dry. The in-tank fuel pump uses gasoline for cooling and running the tank to empty shortens the pump motor life.

Interesting. Couple things: The reason the hybrid battery does not drain all the way, is hybrids don't have starter motors. The hybrid motor is what starts the engine. Also.... the Ford capless gas.... you don't actually need the little adapter. There are two tabs inside the filler neck that a gas nozzle pushes in..... you can open it by pushing them in (together) with a couple small screwdrivers, or whatever you have. Even the gas can nozzle (pushed to one side) and a small screwdriver or maybe key.

This is a great video for the purposes of what is was intended. It does not accurately show what the Maverick is capable of in electric mode. The battery and electric motor are more powerful than the video shows. His truck was in limp mode due to running out of gas which also reduced the power of the EV system knowing it could not have been recharged by the gas engine. Watch a video of a hybrid being driven online and you will see it can accelerate faster than he was able to under electric only power and is able easily to hit over 40 mph. My 2014 Prius v is able to go from 0 to 43 mph on EV mode only for example and my ev motor is a lot weaker. Lastly. I know the driver cannot control if the Maverick is in EV or hybrid mode. There are several parameters that must be met for the gas engine to shut off and the throttle pedal cannot be pressed too hard or the gas engine will turn back on.

Yes I thanked Trump for the shitty gas prices in 2017 too. Not sure why you need to be political to make a statement on fuel effecency. That being said my Hybrid Maverick was a pain to order and recieve. Dealers made my purchase undesireable, but the fuel effeciency soften the experience for my 2023 model. I don't think I would sell mine unless the dealer I purchased from burned down in flames. 😊

The battery purpose is when your driving a consistent speed the gas shuts off and uses the battery to maintain the speed. Some people are getting 100 miles on 2 gallons at consistent highway speeds.
@Bmr4life2 жыл бұрын
Not all the way true. The truck will run in EV mode as much as possible including from a stop to the maximum possible speed before the gas engine must engage due to needing more power, the battery getting low, or other additional parameters that must be met. The hybrid's preference is to run in EV mode.

Ok thank you for the fact checking. We must assume here that this is experimental and all the crap you sucked into the fuel filter and pump from the tank sump will not void thine dearly beloved warranty amigo! Pray not the Ford service police ain’t a’watchin’. But I guess it’s comforting to know we get a dozen miles to go on fumes.
