It is a pygmy hippo, and they had a baby, too. Lol. You’re right. But don’t let the small size fool ya, ha, they’re just as scrappy as the common river hippos. And they have equally gnarly teeth. You can tell it’s a pygmy hippo by the rounder shape of its head and body, it’s rounded face, and smoother skin. Less red-colored skin, too, something common hippos developed for sunscreen. Pygmy hippos usually never go in the sun, if they can help it. They’re found in the Congo rainforest, Central and Western Africa. Common hippos are large and in charge, out in the full sunny river and lakes… scaring off Nile crocs and everything else, out in the open. At night, they come onto land to graze. But pygmy hippos prefer lots of tree cover overhead. …Which makes me think the enclosure in the video is a bit too barren and sparse for a pygmy hippo… I know it’s a cleanliness thing, too, as far as decorations and enrichment… overall, that place is flawless with the facilities and setup, just absolutely incredible. I don’t wanna sound critical. I don’t doubt these people know what they’re doing, but I really think pygmy hippos need a ton of shade cover and privacy… like, at least half of that enclosure should be shaded… and the whole thing with bringing people in at night? Hmm, seems contradictory to the pygmy hippo’s entire personality. No offense. Like, people think pygmy hippos are chill cause of their size, but that’s not necessarily the case. The teeth are no joke.

Sooo I have a question as me and my partner are actually wanting to move from the uk to Texas (my foster mum is from Texas and most of her family are still in Texas) I want to move because of the restrictions about animals in the uk, it is suspected that within the next 10 years we will only be allowed ‘small’ dogs and no ‘exotic animals’ 😩 I hope it’s not the case but it doesn’t make a difference to me, we will be leaving the country 🤣 sorry so to the actual question when you say Texas sucks too what do you mean?
