Them recording this song was some time after, because “Blame It On The Rain” was originally recorded specifically for the American album, because Clive Davis, who ran Milli Vanilli’s American record label, Arista Records, felt their original German-produced album wasn’t up to par for the American market.

The guy playing Rob couldn’t have been a worse choice. Rob was light skinned and half white. He had gorgeous eyes. The man playing him looks African . He’s dark skinned and doesn’t have the eyes. I think that’s a very sad detail to overlook

This was the single remix. Frank Farian likely didn’t own the original master recording mix, which was only released on the American version of the album, Girl You Know It’s True, which was from a different record label. The song had been remixed with the other singles for a remix album released in Germany and outside of America, and this edit of the mix was created for radio. This single mix was released in America as well, albeit with some minor alterations to it.
