Fun fact: Bruce Campbell was originally considered to play Peyton/Darkman but the studio rejected him because they didn't feel he could carry such a dark film.

I haven't seen this film since my dad took me to see in the theater and I had an epiphany. This is a live action anime. The over the top violence and psych-out scenes would have fit in perfectly in an anime film/series.

Now to ask if you’ve seen “Mother, Jugs, and Speed” starring Bill Cosby, Harvey Keitel, and Raquel Welsh. It was a movie my mom really liked. I recently bought the VHS from Goodwill. It’s about a private ambulance company.

16:15 perhaps you are confusing it with the Shadow (1994) with Alec Baldwin - he didn't have the ability to physically change his face but had the ability to cloud other men's minds so they thought he looked different. The Shadow's costume was also very similar with the hat and the cloak and the scarf over the face

Great episode and welcome back. I hope in the future you talk about Dick Miller's passing as he was in at least 3 movies from the show. Partly to honor him and partly so you can do a round of movies for great characters actors that everyone knows when they see them but most people never know their names. To my shame, I always recognized Dick Miller but only his passing have I learned his name.

Battle Royale is available for free in my area. My college tv package sucks but every once in a while the number of free movies goes from 258 short Netflix documentaries to 3,000 great movies to watch.

It's really great to have you two back and movie watching........after seeing all your seasons I came to a realization that there is a theme of movie which you haven't yet looked at..........films in which a train is the main focus of the plot, The Cassandra crossing, Silver Streak, the lady vanishes the Von Ryan Express and so on.......what would you two guys consider to be the greatest train type movie?

This movie reminds me of the Robert Englund Phantom of the Opera (except without computers, more opera and brutal face stealing). Even some shots were exactly what I would have expected from a Phantom movie and for the longest time I thought this was a weird version of PotO

If you haven't seen it you should watch this French film "King of hearts". First time i watched was in high school and the only film i first saw in a classroom that really spoke to me. It's commentary on the insanity of war is right up there with M.A.S.H. and Catch-22.

There was a viewing of Battle Royale at a local bar years back. It was packed so tight that people were on top of each other. Half way through a drunk guy gets up to use the bathroom, when he came back into the crowd he lost his balance and face planted into the corner of a table. It was as bloody as Battle Royale

Great stuff as ever. I remember watching an out of context segment of darkman while pretending to be asleep on the sofa next to my mum as a kid and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. It wasn't until years later that I saw the deferred dissappointment of the rest in uni. Btw have you guys done artsy fartsy heartfelt film intacto yet? You haven't? You should see intacto. Uncomfortable father son kisses from Max von Sydow aside, it's strangely mesmerizing.

Another person in the running for Darkman was Bill Paxton who ironically brought Liam Neeson with him to one of the auditions. After Neeson got the part, Paxton didn't speak to him for over a year. But I very much agree that Bruce Campbell (as well as Paxton) would've warranted a MUCH better movie as opposed to Neeson.

Also how can you "gloss over" the first bad guy that Darkman kills, that being Pauly played by Sam's brother Ted? It's one of the most comedic and gruesome at the same time in the movie.

That "dancing freak" part really screwed with me when I was a little kid. I saw the movie with my parents, and I was far too young. The gore and explosions didn't bother me. However, I *hated* how Darkman was yelling at his cat. I distinctly remember screaming, "HE'S SO MEAN! I HOPE HE DIES!" and running out of the living room to go hide somewhere.

Continuing my 7 season (now 8) campaign for "Flight of Dragons". The cover turns people off because they made it look like a young kid movie, but that is only because they wanted to sell more to that demographic. Kids can watch and enjoy it, but its compelling , has a lot of mature themes, and the artistry is excellent. Great characters, great story, and great art.

Seen it? 20,000 leagues under the sea? Not great as adaptations go but fun, special effects that hold up 60+ years later, and great performances by Peter Lorre, James Mason, and the apparently immortal Kirk Douglas.
