Thanks so much, I love all your ideas for putting Orchids in trees. I too live in Florida, Palm Beach County. I did a few years ago put my very first Orchid in a tree in my front yard. It has bloomed every year since. Of course no big Hurricane to disrupt it as yet. I got a new Orchid this past February 2018 and still have it inside it just started to drop it’s flowers but I had to leave for six weeks to travel to Michigan and I left them with my daughter in Wellington, Fla. So i hope they survive until I return after the 4th of July. So Thanks for the idea of using knee highs, I will be using your idea. Sincerely Karen

Hi Blanca! After following your recommendations on how to mount orchids on trees, my orchids are thriving in their new homes. They are abundantly producing blooms and super healthy! Scored an amazing buy at Walmart. Phalaenopsis plants left over from Valentine’s Day - leaves and roots still green, and even a few leftover booms. Three cents each! You read that right. Virtually free. I scooped up ten, leaving some for some other lucky shoppers, and distributed some to friends as a note of cheer. Just found the Orchid Diva and glad for the advice, as I also live in S Florida and plan to mount in palms. Thank you.

Hi Blanquita. Now that is what I call, "The perfect stocking stuffers." Lol. It is a great video and full of details, plus you make it look too tempting to try it. I have a follower on Instagram that is going to try to plant some on her palms and when it gets that cold cover them with plankets.. I image she will just do one palm. That may be too much of a hassle though. I asked her to tell me if it works and if she does I’ll let you know :))

Blanca Acosta u can try laelias of you’re worried about frost , especially laelia anceps since it can go 10F freezing with little to no problem

Hi Blancquita! I was wondering because I saw you put a wad of moss on top of mosque that was already bald around your phalaenopsis do you ever clean out all the routes especially from their original plugs? Because the roots would be way more aired out and happy and maybe the leaves would stay nice and green and not turn yellow and spotted. 👉👵👈

I am about to attempt to attach an orchid to a mountain laurel tree next to my deck in Houston Texas. I think our climate - heat and humidity - are similar to Miami so after viewing your video I am going to give it a try. One of my orchids has a spike that has a two lovely leaves growing out of it and a root that looks like it is searching for a home. That spike is about a foot long. I don't see anything like that on your video. Suggestions?

Hi! I live is south Florida too! I attached my orchid to one of my trees it was doing fine, but now I am noticing that the leaves are very soft, yellow, and I can fold them. I’ve read that it’s a sign of stress. But its giving me flowers at the moment and the roots are really stuck to the tree.... do you have any advice on how I can help the leaves get hard and green?

Foutsih Rafoula hi! Yes they would sill grow. it’s like attaching on bark or wood mounts. I went on a cruise ship last summer and they had phals attached on trees they had inside the ship. 😀🌸

It's a great tutorial! I loved it; I have a question.... I live in Central Mexico and it is usually hot and dry. In spring and summer it is really very sunny. Do you think my phalaenopsis would still thrive in palm trees?

Susana Vanegas hi!! I would definitely try. Try to attach them in the shadiest side of the palm and water daily especially in those hot months. It gets really hot here in S. Fl. and mine do great outdoors. Good luck and happy growing 🌸😊

I love, love , love your video, i am from Ontario, Canada, lots of snow here ... i watch your video ans dream of moving to Florida .. I want to try and attach my mini Phalaenopsis orchid with a nylon, (she dont have much of her roots left) to a big plant that i have in my living room. Would you have to spay water on it nylon and sphagnum every week ?? maybe i could save her that way ... Thank you ..

Reyna Lantigua Hi, when phals are mounted on trees they dry up faster than when they are in pots, crown and roots have better ventilation. It’s where they like to be. In all the years I’ve been attaching my orchids rotting is very minimal. 😊 My climate in south Florida is also very hot and humid so that helps them not to dry out or stay soaked all day.

If it’s been raining a lot, and you have them attached to the tree with sphagnum moss then it could be holding too much water. I would remove it from the medium it’s in

Sarah Kohler that is wonderful that the roots have securely attached ! Give it some time. They will bloom soon for you. It takes about a year depending when her last blooms were. Happy Growing 😀🌸

sandra hodges hi!! The orchids do great on my trees. Dendrobiums are the once that tend to lose their leaves and they do great attached. 🌸😊
