Blanket Speed Reduction on Irish Roads

The Irish Government, made up of Fine Gale, Fianna Fail and the Greens, are bring in a blanket speed reduction on Irish roads, 100 klm will go to 80, 80 to 60 and 50 to 30. This is a disaster, knee-jerk reaction to the recent rise in road deaths but fails to understand the isse.

Just more rules to discourage car ownership and restrict free movement. All in the name of safety and climate change of course......does anyone still believe the govt is working towards the best interests of the Irish people?😂😂😂

Once they can monitor your movement they can restrict your movement, then slowly restrict it more and more. Throw out you TV, stop reading newspapers and for God sake get ride of your mobiles. But you will not get rid of your mobiles because you are addicted to them. You will never be free with a mobile in your hand.

They don't want you to get rid of your mobile phone, notice who modern cars now have connectivity to your phone and display on the car screen text and email messages, now that should be banned and controlled not putting speed limiters in.

It could be that the statements used in this video have been taken out of context and also do not fit with actual global research on emissions and fatalities reductions when speed-limits are reduced.

Thank you for your comment but they are not taken out of context in this video and in Ireland we have had the same speed limits for years and one of the lowest death rates in Europe. So you have to ask what has changed to make this happen, more drug/drink driving and more mobile phone use, this is how you should analyse any problem, you look at what has changed. On emissions if you look at all these documents it clearly shows that at 30klm CO2e is far great than at 50klm and above and ovly after 100klm does it increase, see page 9 of the TII 2022 Report and page 27 of the Modelling Report
