Is it generally safe in the City? What are the hotels like?

It felt pretty safe where I was staying in the financial district. But one should always exercise caution when traveling in poorer countries. I only stayed in one hotel. It was 8$, the cheapest I could find. It was ok. There are many higher end options in the city. Outside of Blantyre a hotel rooms are cheaper 3 - 8$ (low end places)
