Hoodoo is a form of chaos magic which is arguably the most powerful and dominant forms of magic. It works with so many different belief systems. I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness but I found a book on psalms magic. Even though magic was banned Black JWs practice lots of hoodoo without knowing it. Once I branched out spiritually I met so many different people with different beliefs. It’s great because you get to shape your reality in harmony with your beliefs instead of having to conform with some central belief system. It creates a diversity of manifestations.

At the age of 4 my gifts started in the church. I follow the page to become educated on beliefs instead of forming my own. I’ve been told by Ashanti, Igbo and Yoruba in Africa, I would be an Obeah Woman. I work in herbalism, dreams, interpretations, laying hands, seeing spirits, etc. I’ve come to learn gifts and callings come without repentance. Our people have always been powerful. Sounds like she created boundaries with her gifts as not to mess with the fates.

Thank you, Yaya. I don’t know how I even founded your page. I am not a participant in the different practices, I am someone who is a believer in spirituality and Christianity, and I firmly believe that you, as a black person, cannot be of Christian faith without being a believer in spirituality as well. It warms my heart and brings me joy to learn more about Arkansas and the history that is still there. My family is from Arkansas, slaves and all, and my great grandmother would ALWAYS tell me stories about our family and the slaves and what they experienced and how many of the graves that are down there are some unmarked people. She always told me, “If these trees could talk.” There were so many things that women would say that would send chills down my spine. But the more and more that I learn about all the blacks that lived there. I am reminded of how powerful we indeed are.

My oldest granddaughter has the gift of site and she knew that my daughter, her Momma, was pregnant, that she was going to going to get a little sister, and she was 4 years-old, and no one had told her anything about my daughter being pregnant, but she and her husband wanted to wait till she was showing. This is a gift among the women in my family, telling if someone is expecting and what they'll have, but my Momma was strong with that gift and my granddaughter is going to be stronger than my Momma. I believe in GOD Almighty and I'm a Witch and I do readings, and other things. I had one young woman who came to me for a reading and I asked her about a woman and I told her what the woman looked like, and what she was doing, and I had started her reading, and she started crying because I had described her favorite aunt who had passed, and she got on her phone and told her family to come see me. One lady wanted to be a heifer, so I described a room and a man, and I had described a relative of hers. One lady dropped my hand and backed away from me because I had described her Momma and gave her a message from her Momma. I've got the blood of seers in my veins and of magic running through my veins, but I've got African-American, Irish, Scandinavian, Spanish, Italian, and the list goes on of people known for having gifted people.
