Fueled by the disappointment when you too easily conquered Gotta' Go Fast 2, I set out to find something I could make soul-crushing, yet still fun enough that you would still play it. I tried many things, created prototypes, and conjured ideas. All to no avail. I knew there was only one thing left for me to do. On night. I set out into the world, looking, searching, seeking. . . for something of terrible power. When at last, in the forgotten crypts beneath the city, I saw it. . . I felt its presence. . . Spelunky. "Please!" I begged, vainly hoping Spelunky would show me the way, "You know all about torturing Israel Blargh, just share one little bit of information with me!". Spelunky chuckled, and although I could not see it, I knew a cruel smile played on its lips, "Perhaps we can come to an agreement." 6 months later, the pack was finished. As it was, I was proud of my work, but something was always scratching at the back of my mind, "Was it worth it?" In the end, I decided it was, I wasn't using my testicles for much anyways. In all seriousness though, thanks for playing the pack! I don't want to turn you away from any others I've made, but I think this is the pinnacle of my level-making skills. Either way, I'm glad you were able to enjoy despite the unruly difficulty!

The texture bug: As far as I know each level type (mine, jungle, ...) has its own set of textures compressed into one picture that is split into a grid. Game objects that are not used in the given level type like the bolder will get removed from the picture in order to get more space. The game however saves the location of the textures inside the picture and therefore refers to a section of the picture which now contains other textures. As for the texture switch between the banner and the messed up one you were right: the texture changes according to the speed of the bolder.

I actually learned 2 new things you can do in this video! The jump over the double spikes in a one block high environment I had no idea, and the multiple mass whipping of many bats across the ceiling thing was just awesome!

wow major props to the maker of this, I make Mario levels in Mario maker and I know that not only does it suck getting the obsticals correct, it is not a complete level unless it looks good. this level looks perfect is nearly frame perfect with the timing on some levels and is completely possible. great job to who made this. p.s. I don't know how much Mario maker is similar to this but I know in it with any good level comes hours of work that doesn't even appear lol

I thank you greatly for your major props! The Frozlunky editor is somewhat similar to Mario Maker, in the sense that it is tile based, but Frozlunky is obviously not as polished, seeing as it was never intended to be made by the developers of Spelunky. There are a bunch of different rules and quirks that will mess with your level or crash the game if not followed, such as: There must be enough jungle tiles for the black market to spawn, and there can never be more than one Olmec in a level. Comparing the two, Mario maker is more user-friendly, and works well at having items interact with each other. Frozlunky on the other hand, is definitely rough around the edges, but gives you more freedom in the end, once you learn its ways.

Random fact: in the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, when Indy is going through the jungle, they put in a bird call from the sfx library to add to the jungly atmosphere. They clearly went for the weirdest bird sound they could find, unfortunately the one they picked was the Kookaburra, the iconic Australian bird with its distinctive "laughing" sound. There certainly aren't any in the mesoamerican rainforest. It's really distracting and quite funny, for us at least.
