D Mixolydain is the fifth mode in the key of G Major. G, a,b,c,D. Seven modes in each scale, that we use mostly. There are other modes but we mostly do not use them. Ionian would be the first Mode G major, Dorian would be the second mode A. B is the 3rd mode Phrygian. C would be the 4th mode Lydian. D is the 5th mode Mixolydian. E is the 6th mode Aeolian, Also minor key. F is 7th mode Locrian. All of these modes with one sharp in the key signature is in the Key of G. G mixolydian would be in the key of C, no sharps or flats in key signature.

Red Desert Fiddle, I thought it would come naturally being a drummer. Boy was I wrong. It was much harder than I thought it would be too. I've been getting better tho.

It's funny how some tunes sound BEST on certain instruments. Sometimes tin whistle is best, sometimes banjo, or mandolin or bouzouki. But yeah, the violin has that "sustainability" which often makes a melody sound extra nice.

Dang it. Yes, you are right. In my paid lessons online, I admonish students that I am lifting my fingers up to give them a clear view. And it also "cues" them in for upcoming moves.
