I bought a new one in 2002 from Jet A Marine and still have it. Awesome boat. 2.6l Yamaha still runs 67-68. New seats new carpet and a new 2023 trailer going under it this week!

A 518vx is 19’ not 18’. I have a 1999 518vx with a 04 200 optimax and absolutely love it and let me tell you it gets used. I have had it for over 10 years and really can’t justify getting a newer boat do to still love the way it fishes.

No I still love my 1999 518dvx storage is awsome, ride is pretty good, my 200hp optimax pushes it well 36v trolling motor. I fish out of all my friends new boats and I just can’t justify buying a newer boat do to my 518 doing everything I want it to. Definitely the best boat for your money in my opinion.

I have a 1998 R-91 Ranger 19'10". Bought it from original owner in 2006. I have upgraded to a 4 stroke pro xs Mercury 200, Ultrex 80 ,humminbird Gen 2n 12 MSI/DI at the dash and a bird 10 Gen4 MDI and Mega 360 on the front . Boat is immaculate, next up Atlas Hydrolic jack plate and power poles.boat is everybit tournament ready as a 90,000 boat of today.wouldnot sell it or trade it for nothing.Love your channel.

I just bought a 1995 Ranger 391V - 1 owner and had orginal 1994 mfg tires on it. Its Beautiful. Low hours. Guy fished at like 2 miles from his place. And hadn'g fished it much in last 10 years due to 3 different hospitalizations.

I just wanted to say that I won a a 2000 518vx with a 3.0 liter 200 Johnson and I loved that boat. And my home lake is lake Lanier in Gainesville Ga. And I put a 10 inch hydraulic jack plate on it and you would be surprised how much better it would handle big waves . Also top end speed along with some engine trickery from an old omc expert . Once he was done with it I could run it tournament ready with two people and spin a 26 pitch 3 blade mazco prop at 6400 rpm at 77 mph

Have had my 1996 461vs with 150 EFI. Have absolutely enjoyed it, fishes big for a 18.10 ft boat. Very stable and smooth riding. Updated with Ultrex, talons and helix 10s at the bow and console. Redid carpet and seats with original colors. Easy to maneuver on the trailer and in the water. Fishes skinny water pretty well. Enjoy the series you do and the time and effort you put into it. Just sold my Ranger 1989 R415. Had a mercury 75hp. Was a cool fun little boat and never seen another one ever.. Was in great shape. Got a 1987 Champion 184 dc with a mercury blackmax 200hp. It's a screamer.

I bought a 2001 518 vx Comanche single console burgundy and silver in the summer of 2021 a friend of mine had and needed to sell because he got a sponsor deal with nitro. The 518 is in really good condition and runs and drives great seats need replaced or recovered minimal damage and I’ve upgraded the graphs on it but carpet and everything else is in really good condition, it was garage kept it has a few fishing scars from boat docks and stuff but it’s used and over twenty years old but it’s still a good boat. I told my friend that I bought from that I hated to see him step down but oh well, lol got it for 12k

Great video. I just got a 2005 185VX about 7 months ago and I absolutely love it. Single console was the icing on the cake. And it’s crazy clean and well maintained with a 175 mercury optimax. Keep up the good work

I completely agree I have a 1999 690 VS since 2000 150 Merc Opti it's is a great boat I also upgraded TM to MK Uterra and 2 10 Hummingbirds and keep it nice in my barn and ran Lake Erie 1000 times and at Dale Hollow 3 times a year Great Boat . I came a long way from a 16 foot flat boat with a 20hp Merc tilter that I pulled with Jnhn Deer 4020 tractor to the lake 6 miles away from the farm went I was 14

My 1990 Ranger 482v has a composite transom and floors and man for a 31 year old boat the ride is awesome its not fast but 60mph is fast enough for my lake's and rivers .

Do you think there will be better cash deals on boats in 2 - 3 years when interest rates are higher? Prices are so inflated and boat financing was up over 300% last year compared to 2019. Have people gotten in over their heads on new boats? Will they be giving them away in 2023 - 2024 like SUVs in 2008 - 2009? Love the channel. Thanks for any feed back! Might make for a good episode.

My friend has one with 200 and i called to see if you had a used 200hp but you didnt. Hes having a hard time finding a motor even a 4 stroke is 6months plus before he would get one. Hes going crazy not getting on the water.

I can never understand ranger mode numbers 😂😂 I gotta 99 519vs and from nose to transom it measures 20’6, but the early 500 series and the 488vs were some of the best boats made

GUYS, im in north carolina my good friend is in middle of a complete transom repair on this 518 dvs it was a ordered boat from the factory through greene boat and motor in spindale nc who was for yrs rangers highest volume dealer! another friend ive known for life purchased this boat and the engine fell completely off in the lake on their 4th trip!! on lake hartwell! he got the engine off the bottom of lake and got in home the insurance adjuster took 1 look at it and told them he was very sorry but this was a factory defect hed seen severa ltimes! ranger wascalled and told that since the original owner sold this boat to another ,second owner! there was no help from ranger either so he is going to repair it himself> i was appauled at the chicken crap design ranger had put back there on the transome assby and manufactiring blunders!! this design was childish to say the least! im so thankfulll myself and my uncle who heV bought a 488 vs in 97 ordered it at the same Greene Boat ND MOTOR WHOS DAUGHTER SANDY IS NOW PART OWNER OF ANGLERS CHOICE MARINE! this all SAID RANGER BOATS BUILT AND SOLD THE WORST HULLS IN THE LATE 90S EARLY 200S WITH THE Z SERIES PLOW HULLS!! WE looked for hours online as to how to repair this transom that nothing was found so weve incorparated a design ourselves AND ITS COMING ALONG SLOWLY! BUT ID LOVE FOR ANYONE TO CHIME IN ON THIS DEAL! THESE WERE GREAT HULLS ON THE WATER IN MY OPIONON BUT< IM THANKFULL OURS HELD AS LONG AS WE USED OUR 97 VS ! THE TRANSOM ON THIS 518 IS TERRIBLE I DO NOT SEE HOW THE ENGINE DIDDNT BREAK THIS APART ALOT SOONER!!

Well that was kinda a bummer. I’ve been eyeing one of these and a few 185vx since they were in my budget but saying they’ll basically sink in 6 footers kinda has turned me off. I live near Lake Ontario so I’d need something that can handle that. Any suggestions on an 18-19 footer that’ll handle big water better? I don’t expect anything in that size would be great but I just don’t want to die if the wind shifts or picks up suddenly and I need to run back to the launch lol
