This is very early Steven Mead and already he was in a class by himself. His tone is so sublime and his technique is - well - Steven Mead. Bravo, Maestro!

The TV presenter had it wrong too, it's not a folk song, it was written and first performed in 1862 by Music Hall singer George "Geordie" Ridley at Balmbras Music Hall in Newcastle upon Tyne. Still widely known and sung in the North East of England.

Well, I’ve got the sheet music back and it’s harder than it looks! 😱 Well, just for me it is! :/ My teacher used to make me play it with my trombone many years ago and darn right my muscle memory just isn’t as good with the euphonium! :/

That is Steven Mead in the video, but not the audio...off much📯
@dwerden4 жыл бұрын
It IS Steven. Believe it or not, the original version from which this was made was MUCH worse. I had to separate the audio and video and then do my best to sync them up. (That can be especially tough when mics are not right next to the player.)
@jt.entertains4444 жыл бұрын
Why would an original version of a professional recorded video be off sync?...

@@jt.entertains444 so many of those old brass band recordings from the t.v are. Such a mystery.

@@mikep7814 I wonder, had the original UK PAL video signal been converted to US format NTSC before being later digitised for KZbin? The frame rate is different so it might account for the problem.
