Amazing record. There’s something about the slow builds and atmosphere that touches on the Italian doom rock band Messa for me :) saw these guys some years ago in a tiny basement i Denmark and even though it was a underground deathmetal event, their synth setup alone made you think they were rich 70s rockstars 🤘😎🤘

Sounds like wading through mud in the middle of a festival with 2 diametrically opposed bands playing on stages either side of you while you're searching for an overpriced hotdog-core.

Those who like this, might want to try Elephant No 9 - coming from a different background (jazz fusion) to hit the same progressive spot.

When I first heard the single "Scars of Light" I was truly blown away, so I'm going to give this album my full attention, and simply take it all in because by the sounds of it, I may have a potential album of the year on my hands! I'm also surprised this album came out on 20 Buck Spin and not say I, Voidhanger because it truly sounds like an I, Voidhanger release!

With Pan.thy.monium he indeed made weird, chaotic, all over the place death metal incl. saxophone among other things, i thought Blayne was about to mention it at one point

Sounds really ecxiting! I only heard their name before, now I know I should listen to them. The album that jumped into my mind when you asked for something similar is Moontower by Dan Swano. Completley prog insturumentals with Swano growling over the music.

The new album is awesome, but I still prefer the Hypnagogic Hallucinations. The progressive elements in the previous album are not the core , instead, they used those elements to create an amazing contrast between despair and those elements. Something like having a few flashes of light into the dark.

Just the name, Bedsore, makes me think of a few things: 1) A mid-2000s NOLA sludge metal band (with an Eyehategod style); OR 2) A song from one of Phil Anselmo's musical projects

Solid album. Didn't know Blayne had a soft spot for 70s prog :) They have obviously listened to a lot of early ELP (Emerson Lake & Palmer), which is my personal favourite 70s prog band. Nice to have some Death Metal sprinkles on top of that. Love the idea of this mix. However if you are familiar with the works of ELP, it's unfortunately an impossible task to come close to the master Keith Emersons organ and keyboard work. And the metal parts coul be a bit more severe IMHO. If you like Bedsores latest album you have to check out ELP. Best start out with "Tarkus". In general I am very happy that more and more bands reach out to include 70s prog and other influence into extreme metal.

Yeah this is easily blackened 70s progrock. I say blackened because the only real extreme metal element in this is the vocals. And sound closer to mid-range reverbed black metal vocals.
