Having been with the series since CT, watching BlazBlue evolve has been a real treat. It was my first fighting game, and if not for the heavy story emphasis I wouldn't have gotten into it at all. This is an incredible video, thanks for promoting BB. Rollback has been amazing, there's so many people to play and it's almost always incredible. It's really easy to train and practice against other people and learn. I've had about 600 matches as Kokonoe and it's a total blast.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The rollback patch is an absolute dream. I remember tons of days way back when of seeing tons of red bars all of whom I couldn't play only to now see a ton of green bars who'll, more often than not, have a good connection with me. It's hard to believe this is the same game, but it is, and I've never been more happy with it.

Been playing Blazblue since the beginning. I love hearing others talk about it be it something they hate or love, but predominantly more love than ever and great to see it come back with rollback. You can even review my username to see all of my Blazblue content though I have deleted videos over the years and I wish I haven't. Blazblue is that one game I can play with anyone throughout my years as its my favorite fighter and it gotten better with every iteration. I bought all the new fighters or most of them and learned that they're too simplified or way too slow really killing my groove. I will be that guy and say that auto combos that you can't turn off is also a main killer for me. PS- I play Ragna, Hazama, and Nine. I can play others that are generally simple but not as well as those three that I have invested years into. The only time I might drop something is when I don't play it for a few months and rust kicks in.
@riku5822 жыл бұрын
Looking at your videos, especially the Chrono Phantasma ones, takes me back, hard to believe it's been 6 years since that game hit Steam. I'm not exactly put off by the auto combos of Cross Tag, but I get why it's not a decision everyone likes. Ah, a fellow Ragna player. You know, I've tried playing Hazama, but I could never get a handle on his neutral, he just has so much freedom that I'm not sure what to do half the time to just get in without getting anti-aired.

Having just found out about Rollback being added to a plethora of fighting games on steam. The thought of delving back into my favorite fighting game that no one I know is willing to play with me was inevitable. Owning all BB + Xblaze games in physical disk for PS is my greatest treasure; but seeing your conviction to the game has me convinced that I have strayed and need to "re-immerse" myself. Honestly when you wanted to play a harder character and then stuck with Ragna, my story is the opposite. Initially I wanted to play Terumi and Mai, but as I felt a tad bit unsatisfied with their combos I tried the other easier characters and I struggled a lot until one day when I had one of my friends (who was a Hazama player) over during summer break after my Junior year of highschool he dared me to play Izanami because I told him Izanami was busted, I never tried Izanami because I knew she was harder to play, regardless I took the dare and tried her, and I discovered Izanami was actually a lot more fun than I thought, I didn't win the first few matches we played but as I began learning her inputs I eventually managed to get a win streak of 10 wins, I didn't get any perfects but I got close. After he left for the next few months continuing into my senior year of highschool whenever I had free time I would practice with her and I managed to beat over 80% of her challenges (still trying to clear all of them), I eventually managed to become nearly untouchable whenever I used her against my friend. It was nice playing Izanami but it felt odd as I had recently picked up Relius Clover as my first of 3 secondaries but I wanted to do more labbing. Eventually my friend dropped Hazama so I decided to give him a try. I had to learn his combos from scratch as while I knew how to play him in bbtag, I didn't actually know how to play him in Central Fiction. Eventually I tried learning Hazama and had completed all of his challenges, my friend switched his main to Terumi and had Platinum as his secondary, I dropped Terumi for Hazama, and since then I have never regretted my choice, Izanami and Hazama are the most fun fighting game characters I have ever played and have some of my favorite songs in the game (specifically Gluttony Fang 1, Nightmare Fiction 1, both versions of endless despair, Yomotsuhirasaka, and Bloodline being my favorites of theirs) I love this game and thank bbtag for existing for it was the gateway into me playing this game, I am constantly trying new characters and love playing most of them, I also love the soundtrack as Blazblue had my favorite soundtrack of all time and confidentially the characters I main and secondary have my favorite songs in the game. I also managed to get further into it with some KZbinrs that play Blazblue, specifically Kaizouwar Animeilluminati have been my favorites, I love this this game and community and I hope it continues to grow even bigger in the future. Thank you for highlighting this masterpiece of a fighting game
@riku582 Жыл бұрын
That's how it goes, sometimes it's the harder characters you'll enjoy more, and sometimes it will be an archetype you had no prior interest in playing that grabs your attention, from my experience you can never really tell who you'll end up enjoying until you actually sit down and play with that character because while they may be "good" or "easy" none of that matters if you can't have fun while playing them. Also 3 secondaries? Who were you trying to counter pick? It's also cool to hear that you migrated from Tag to CF. I've heard and seen a lot of CF players, myself included migrate to Tag but I've never heard the opposite so it's nice to see that there is a healthy flow between games. Oh yeah the sound track is great, and those 2 are great honestly the Blazblue community is filled with all kinds of characters that manage to show their love of the game in different ways. If you ever want to see a unique side of the community look up Dante Redgrave's Azrael CMV titled Tyrant Version Red it's an experience to put it lightly.

I love the lore and the characters and the ideas of the mechanics from the series which is very unfortunate for me because I don’t like the feel of any characters in the game, I play many different fighting games with so many different feels and I never felt like there was a game where no character fit me until I played Blazblue idk if it’s me not looking into the characters correctly but I beat every combo trial and spent about 15-20 mins in training room with every character and nobody feels right to me, I also don’t look for a specific style of character I just look for who feels awesome to play for me examples being, I play Shadow Yu, Kanji, & Shadow Yosuke in P4AU, I play Noctis in Tekken7, I play HC & Ky in GGST, the only character I kinda liked in BBCF is Hibiki. If you guys have any recommendations for who I should give another try to in BBCF let me know, I really wanna play this game but can’t find a char I like and I’m willing to lab characters again

March 2020 (right as Lockdown was beginning), I go to my friends house to play smash and tekken as usual and then randomly he says "wanna play Blazblue". I said sure but i've never played it so i'm gonna get blown up. I picked Izayoi(cause she looked cool) and he picked Susanoo and i get demolished obviously. Then we go into combo trials so i can figure stuff out and struggle to do the basic combos. Despite all of that I'm like "this game is cool, REALLY cool and i wanna get better no matter how hard it is". A couple days later I buy it on PS4 and Switch (cause that's what we played it on first) and the rest is history. Grinding CF during lockdown was amazing. It became my favorite fighting game in a couple of months even though it took around a year for me to actually get good enough to consistently win against my friend. I learned Izayoi, Hakumen(Main), Ragna, Terumi, Susanoo, Jubei, Izanami along with others but those are probably my best. Despite it being hard I was just amazed at how every character is different, weird and strong in their own way, I had never played a game like it in fact it was my first ARCSYS game and i eventually played DBFZ, Cross Tag and Strive. Centralfiction is still my favorite and i still randomly load it up to find matches. It's just such a clean game to play and watch and i'm so glad other people are starting to get into it. The Wheel of Fate is turning Rebel 1 ACTION! (Susanoo system voice is the best don't @ me) If you're UK/EU you might see me on the Weekend on PS4

@lapis39652 жыл бұрын
Ah, "BlazBlue Central Fiction", which is a game that is arguably just as complex as "Guilty Gear XRD Revelator," with the game like Revelator having legacy skill, meaning if you haven't stuck with the game since the original back in 2008 you have a MASSIVE hill to climb in learning frame data for each character's normals, gatlings, and overall mobility options that can be used on offense and neutral. Then there are the game's plentiful system mechanics, such as having a half a dozen options on defense that you need to master such as having four ways to block based on specific scenarios for example, and the game having a multitude of wake up options with each having a specific use, and that's not even going into the Drive mechanic, which is a unique action for each character, which there are OVER 35 of, which MOST of the cast plays VASTLY DIFFERENT from each other. Mainline BlazBlue games were HUGE in japan, with it being popular in many Japanese arcades, and as Obama stated in a podcast with Blasted Salami that the series had at one point been up there even with the almighty Tekken in terms of popularity. With many veterans like Dogura ( who is one of the best players in Guilty Gear who uses Slayer) and Fenrich ( who is arguably the best BB player, and currently one the best in DBFZ) representing the series for a long time . Sadly, The series just never took off over here in the west. However, the lack of popularity nationwide doesn't equate to the game's quality.The fact that is arguably the most unique AND complex 2D fighter on the market, but isn't talked about hardly at all in the west was always baffling to me. Especially when I read comments, and watch videos of people in the FGC complaining about how boring fighting games have gotten recently, or how easy it has become and yet will REFUSE to give the game a try. Thankfully, that seems to be changing, for instance Lord Knight, a tournament player who plays a variety of different fighting games recently made a fighting game tier list and put "BlazBlue Central Fiction" near the top, as well as popular Guilty Gear content creators like Obama saying on blasted salami's podcast that "BlazBlue Central Fiction" is arguably just as hard as Guilty Gear Xrd, finally, there's Kizzie Kay, who is a pro Sin player in GGXRD who says BlazBlue is his favorite fighting game series. For those who want to see high level game play in order to get a grasp of how hype this game can potentially be for you, I'd recommend a video titled "BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Grand Finals - Evo 2014" on youtube, and while the game represented there is not Central Fiction, I think it works, since Central Fiction is more of an evolution of Chrono Phantasma any way. Other channel's include "Burst Recap" and "Jourdal" for more high level Japanese play. What's cool about the BlazBlue series is even if you don't care about the complex game play there's STILL a lot of stuff to do in the games, with BBCF in particular having a TON of continent in it, with a story mode that takes DOZENS of hours to complete, and an RPG like mode that takes EVEN longer. All of this is in addition to all the things you can unlock, like music, character colors, and artwork from the developers. Heck, I even made a video titled "BlazBlue: Best Single Player Content In A Fighting Game?" that goes into more detail on all of this if any one's curious. This of course is just my two cents, and the metrics of what makes a great fighting game is going to VARY from person to person. With all that said, I don't think anyone should feel bad for playing Ragna though, One thing that was mentioned was character difficulty, which is an interesting topic for me when it comes to fighting games. Personally, I think there's a HUGE difference between execution difficulty and overall character power. For example, most beginners in BB think Ragna is an easy mode character because his execution for the most part is easy, when that couldn't be further from the truth, since our spiky haired protagonist has very few safe and reliable mix-up options that make most offensive approaches that are INCREDIBLY EASY to read, and usually has to take risks to throw the opponent off for moderate reward. Now, that's not to say Ragna's a weak character, far from it in fact, since he can play neutral fairly well due to size of a lot of his normals. Additionally, he does decent damage, and has a fantastic DP. It's just that he's lacking things that other characters higher on the character power list share. In comparison, Izanami has some of the highest execution in the game, but she is also arguably the easiest character to win with, due to her having so many powerful tools: -Ability to change modes between rushdown and zoning allows for a VERSATILE playstyle. -Float ability provides near UNPARALLELED movement. -Thanks to ribcage having armor, and stopping pretty much all attacks, with the ONLY exceptions being throws, and bursts, it allowed for silly setups in the corner with insane mixups between her attacks and her float . Heck, this move alone can be argued to be just as silly as anything other top tier characters like Nine has in her tool kit. Again, Super armor for one of the most mobile characters in the game. What could be more reasonable than that, I ask you? Now that not to say that they aren't characters with easy execution, and high character power, Mai is an great example of this, I'm just saying we shouldn't assume that they have both based on one factor, execution tier list and and character power tier lists should always be separate. Lastly, I don't think stylish mode is easy in BBCF at all, since it limits what options you can do, such as getting higher damage combos, and lack of pressure situations. For the most part, a stylish player playing against a pro player using technical is mostly likely going to lose, considering how handicapped they are. The purpose of the stylish mode is just for players who don't have an interest in spending hundreds of hours just to play the game at a competent level to still find some fun with the game, and just want to mash with their friends. Overall, a solid video and one that gets a like from me!

@itsDistinctly Personally, in fighting games there are only three types of players: New Players AKA Noobs: is people who are in the learning phase of a fighting game, including not only knowing the general rules of the game and their character of choice, but EVERY character in the game and how the match up generally flows between a new player using their character and every other character, this would include frame data on offense and defense, bnbs, tech, etc. Generally new players don't know the majority of the things and many casuals who play fighting games start and STAY in this category. Intermediate Players: are players who know the match up inside and out and have knowledge on all the things I mentioned prior that new players need to learn, including the frame data on offense and defense, the tech that's known in the community of the game for both your character AND the opponent, etc. Many members in the FGC would fall in this category. Advanced Players AKA Pro Players : is someone who has all the knowledge of an intermediate, but the key difference between pros and intermediates is the fact that they are able to ADAPT quickly to a change in players playstyle of a particular player of equal knowledge. Adaptation is an area where MOST intermediates struggle to learn, and is why they aren't CONSISTENT with their wins in tournaments like the pros are. Personally, anyone who says a fighting game is easy to get good at translates to being able to hang with the pros. In BBCF's case, said pros would be going toe to toe with players like Monarch, Jona Kim and SKD ( SKD in paticular is the best player in the west, and Fenrich being the best player overall when he played the game IMO) if you can't do that then no, I DON"T think you're good at the game. That being said, I can easily see people putting in the work to learn the VAST amount of information the game has to offer, and successfully becoming intermediate at the game though, but there aren't many of those that graduate from their to the pros in the west in this game. That being said, you say you come from Tekken, which is a game that I think is hard to learn AND hard to master, so assuming your are good at that game I doubt you have no problems doing well in BBCF.
@riku5822 жыл бұрын
@itsDistinctly When he says difficult, he means at the highest level of play. While true Central Fiction is petty easy to perform combos in, things start getting more complicated when you factor in each character's gimmick, the system mechanics, and a player who knows how to consistently use them to their advantage alongside knowing how to play around their opponent's gimmick.
