I have a storm and fire wizard both at lvl 75.... I was levelling my storm so hard over the last few weeks only for this update to come out.... Guess I'll just switch over to my fire. also my only max wizard is ice, seeing as they completely ruined snowball barrage and made frost giant even worse, I have no hope the KI will actually give us any decent spells.

The entire point of storm is to be the hitting school....That's why it starts with the lowest accuracy and very little health. The game developers went overboard. Making bugs do 1,000 damage and only remove 1 blade would be enough in my opinion.

The Fire School favoritism is INSANE in this update. Imagine looking at a school like Death or Storm that are getting completely wrecked and then you see fire that gets minor nerfs but actually INSANE buffs. Fire Dragon does 1000 damage now and storm lord does 700. Also bull might become viable now while everyone else is struggling with these new updates. Makes me sad I don't have a fire wizard because KI clearly wants them to be the most OP school in the game.

I feel really bad for storm. I think they should improve storm again to be the strongest, like from the beginning. And if they want fire to be main hitter, then they should give storm more health then fire and less chance to fizzle and fire more chance to fizzle. Dot spells usually do more than others there rank like Fire Elf doing 310 Unlike Forest and Storm lord, Fire Dragon's enchants are split 50/50 across dot and base hit I think it's balanced (not perfectly balanced) but a small overtime nerf could happen

I agree that fire stats do not make sense with these changes. The buffs are drawing fire too far from their identity. I feel like fire SHOULD have higher total damage than storm, but through DoT not initial damage since that is their intended strong point. The concept of DoT is very bad in this game so total damage needs to be greater in order to be viable and balanced. Even then this still also serves as their identifiable weakness so their stats DO work as they're intended to in that scenario. As for storm, I feel like it would be enough to make them viable in comparison if they apply these principles to fire as storm's pip value is still above 100 per pip on all of their spells meaning it would still make it the hardest initial hitter.

@@koalamanda8299 I say 800 because of the way drain health works with enchanting. It's already at a disadvantage by default, so having that beefy damage is good for death in PvE. You can lower the damage in PvP, but in PvE I think it should only be dropped a bit or not at all.

As a pvp player, ice has been the best school since celestia with them naturally having universal resist and the most health. Ice is the defensive school so they should have weak damage. Ice shouldn't be able to do allot of damage and in high level pve go for long game strat of attrition

The base hit epic enchanted for the new dragon will do 750 damage bugs has more damage than that unenchanted the overtime for dragon is useless cause the feints will be all gone on the first hit

(First hit + first overtime) thats wayy more than any of the other school's rank 7, thats more than sirens which is 9 pip and almost as much as bugs in just the first round. And if you wait just one more round of overtime, its the best aoe in the game.

But I don't get why they don't just stick to our school identity of DOT and adjust for THOSE values instead of giving us massive single hits like with Fire Dragon (and they've essentially made Rain of Fire useless now bc who's gonna wait for two more pips when Dragon does more damage off the bat?)

The initial hit only affects you if you have traps or more importantly feints stacked. Even if thats the point... the difference between dragon and lord is 90 damage, which would easily be made up by the dot. Besides from the beginning of the game, lore tells us that storm is supposed to have the *HIGHEST damage of ALL schools* regardless, now they are changing the rules? OWL gets a big nerf but Sun Serpent doesnt?

I mean it being 8 pips barely change much, Like these complaints mean nothing to high lvl gear. High lvl gear that 8 pips is same as 7 pips. This only matters a lot to lower lvls so I can understand arguing for them. If anything they could either increase the heal and reduce the shield (no one uses it for the shield anyway) or can reduce the heal and increase the shield's absorb or change it guardian spirit on self or on an ally of your choosing. Since yes, the pip amount doesn't mean much for high lvks BUT it is still a spell that can be risky to use at times.

As someone with a fire and myth in the works I'm super excited to play on them with these changes implemented. But as someone who has a max storm with full dragoon, I'm really not happy with how heavily storm has been nerfed. And as someone who soloed an ice for alot of the game, nerfing ice is NOT good - they already had low damage output, now they're virtually unplayable as a hitter, even for questing. I also liked your suggestion for rebirth tbh. So overall theres alot of good and bad to this. I feel they should give storm more damage again, sirens shouldn't be so little more damage than storm lord, it should be at a happy medium between storm lord and bugs like it was before. So put sirens back, undo the ice nerfs, buff rebirth a little bit, and otherwise everything from this round of spell tweaks is good

The only way these changes are good is if you want the schools to become even more homogeneous than they already are. The entire point of the schools is for them to be distinctly different from the others, giving all of the schools a viable seven pip AOE is something that sounds good on the surface, but doesn't actually do anything but make all of the schools even more similar, which is bad for the game. Now instead of people just picking Storm, Ice, or Fire since they're the most powerful schools in PvP and PvE, people can just pick any of them and be able to do basically the same amount of damage. Throw in the mind-numbingly stupid nerf to Rebirth (which just makes Pigsies, a spell you can buy with money) even better than it already was, and there's a question as to what KingsIsle actually wants to do with the game. Wizard101's supposed to be an MMO with different classes that do distinctly different things, yet KingsIsle seems to think that, at least I assume, that part of the issue with the game is that the schools aren't homogeneous enough. So now instead of giving people legitimate reasons to make a Life, Myth, Death, or Balance for PvE; KingsIsle decided to just buff two of the three most popular schools and nerf the best school for PvE so far into the ground that no one has a legitimate reason to want one as a character or person in their group. Well, congratulations KingsIsle, you continue to amaze me with your ability to run a good game into the ground with your asinine changes.

EQYR Well since storm is the main hitter, they have low health and accuracy. This should be balanced with the cards dealing more damage. Also storm gear provides more damage but is balanced with less health and resist boosts. Having this said, the cards base damages should be higher since storm is already getting low health and accuracy. It’s ridiculous schools such as life and myth, who have more health and accuracy, to get cards as powerful as storm lord.

Just to try to help out anyone who may not know. Here are a few spells that slipped past Blaze: Mystic Colossus Buff, Abominable Weaver Buff, Hungry Caterpillar Buff, Wings of Fate Buff, Gaze of Fate Buff, Hydra Buff, Chimera Buff. Most of these were simply damage increases.

At the end of the day we are the hardest hitting school still and dish out raw damage faster than any other school. Fire may of gotten buffed but dot hardly matters at the end of the day. I'd complain more about the ice nerfs than the storm ones. You are not accounting for storms gear that will still make us the best raw damage school.

Storm mains are so sensitive. They have to have overwhelming damage and utility, standing 10 levels above all other schools to be satisified. Storm with these changes still has the highest damage values by far, and less utility (which was very needed imo), KI is closer to better balancing. The only thing needing a change is a little buff on sirens (maybe 800), but thats it.

It's similar to the spells from the Dragoon amulet cards. They don't specify AOE in the text, but the symbol on the side of the card represents AOE instead of single target damage.

i know you had the "you don't automatically need a secondary school" video as well, but combine that with the recent spell changes, and i'm back to the counterpoint of "my storm wizard has a life mastery amulet, and is fully stocked on both schools. it's like playing a paladin" plus, my storm wiz got the spider from the loremaster, so THAT's a definite plus. also, i tend to solo quest in pve. so while your "secondary school" take is valid, i'm gonna put out the "mastery amulet" counterpoint again, because if you're going solo, after wintertusk/celestia, having the secondary school damage bonus is nice rather than putting up with damage resistance...
