This is Part 2 of my adventures in cutting a new section of trail. I’ll again use my Piranha tooth bar and this time also use my new Everything Attachments rear blade to further clear and level out the new section of trail.

I DIYed my own tooth bar. I couldn't find a 53 inch tooth bar to buy so I just ordered some flat bar and weld on tooth mounts with the teeth. $230 and an hour of welding and I had what I needed. I am going into my woods to get mulch.

Great vid, thank you. I use a Makita reciprocating saw, with a Diablo demolition blade - to cut roots. Some roots, can be broken with a 6' pry bar. I do cut stumps low with a chainsaw, but that usually does dull the blade. A 2 in 1 chainsaw sharpener, will fix a dull blade fast.

I use a Saws-All too with a pruning blade for cutting limbs and roots - except when I don’t, like this time. I also cut stumps low to the ground when necessary. Thanks for watching!

You sure got a lot of trail cleared, Martin. Very productive day. Plus you got a treat to see 4 young deer. Enjoyed the outdoor workout. Mmm, could smell the fresh earth exposed to the air. Yep, a little back and leg work to give it the final touch-up. Looks dang good. Take it easy and enjoy the remainder of your week. You're gonna love the trail. 👍🏽🙂

Hi Don! Yep, I’m always pleasantly surprised at how much trail I can get cut in a day. It one of the more rewarding projects because I have so much to show for my effort at the end of the day. Hope you have a splendimus rest of your week too!

Nice video, Martin! I start with my rake, then use my box blade to smooth it out. Of course, there are millions of roots dug up in the process. I've been using limbing shears to cut them all out manually and that's back breaking! Take care, buddy.

There is always a few deer roaming our property. I guess they saw the no hunting signs. I like to use my landscape rake after the leaves fall on the trails. Grooms them pretty good.

From my experience the Orange Tractor Brotherhood always know where to get extra dirt and/or have it readily available. I keep lopers close by too. Good work Martin!

Just got my tooth bar! Now to wait for my tractor to get out of the shop so I can install it. Btw, a reciprocating saw with a pruning blade or demo blade works great for roots. The blades are much cheaper that chainsaw chains.

Hi Jeff! Glad you finally got your tooth bar! You’ll love it. I have a Saws-All and a pruning blade. Just didn’t have it with me that day, but I usually remember to take it along, so had to go with the chainsaw this time. Thanks for watching!

Good evening Sir 👍😉 Great rear blade action 👍💪 Fun comments about your sun scream for your rear blade 😎😉👍 Sir next time use a good axe to cut the roots,,, 😮 Great deer live video 😉👍 Great video Sir and have a safe week and I hope that storm did not cause any damage 👍🙏😉 Cheers 🍻

Hi Dave! Glad you liked it! No, I wouldn’t use an axe. It takes too much time and is too much work and my back would never speak to me again. It’s a lot less work just to sharpen the chainsaw again. Fortunately, we didn’t get any storm damage. Thanks for watching!

@@DIYMyWay I'm very happy that storm did damage anything's. I fully understand your peacekeeping attitude with your back Sir 😉👍 Make sure that you clean your spoket cutting blade by dipping into light oil and the same does applying for the spokets who make the chain turn ( sand can wear these sleeves or bushing ) Cheers 👍😉🍻

Nice video Martin, have you tried your box blade for smoothing out the trails. I use mine for cutting all kind of dirt areas plus it has blades for both directions and will pull large amounts of dirt for leveling if needed.

Great video. I am working on a network of roads on my 23 acres beach front property in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada. I did alot of this work over the last 45 years and found that if you break off the roots of a tree that tree will die or fall down. Not so much small roots. As a rule of thumb the roots of a tree go out as far as the branches on a tree. I don't touch roots that is much closer that the spread of the branches of the trees. Sometimes that is impossible because you want to give the tree a chance and not cut it down. I really try to stay away from the tree 1/2 the distance of the spread of the branches. If the branches spread out 20 feet I stay 10 feet away from the tree. If I go closer I smooth the roots over with soil to make the road as appose to digging the roots up.

I basically followed the same rule when I dug a ditch for a water line going by a maple tree, taking a wide birth around it. That was 3 years ago and the tree is just fine. Nova Scotia? Are you buy chance anywhere near Mike of Grampie’s Workshop? Thanks for watching!

For the flat/low areas, do you grade a crown into the trails to keep them from getting muddy during the wetter times?
@DIYMyWay
@DIYMyWay Жыл бұрын
Where it makes sense to, yes. There are some places where it’s better to have the trail slope slightly to one side to let water run off. Thanks for watching!
