I put a piranha tooth bar for my Kioti to scrape packed snow off a parking lot. It worked great for about an hour then the edge started rounding up from the bottom. Was completely worthless in less than one day of use. Unless your working in soft dirt, don’t waste your money. The design is a great idea but the metal is way to soft.

I have had a Pirahna bar for 4 years and it has been great, including cleaning my blacktop driveway off in our Northern Wisconsin winters. The Pirahna bar is made from AR steel. That being said, BXpanded has huge lead times and they really don't give a rip about pleasing the customer.

Running both is the same as running them on a sanding disc. The grinding material, in this case the road doesn't give a shit what the material is. They both ground equally, just as any steel, regardless of grade would suggest a sanding disc. Also, EA has there blade design STARTING were the piranha is when it's worn. So, in essence, as stated, the piranha is sharper from the start, which makes sense that when worn, will look like the EA does from the start, and the EA when worn, starts looking like the piranha when new. Your choice, get it sharp from the start with piranha, or wait till it's worn hoping the edge gets as sharp with EA. The thing is, both can get hit with a grinding wheel and sharpened however much you want. There's no real winner here, except initially, the piranha will work better from day 1, and the EA might be that way after an unknown amount of use till it's worn. The piranha also has larger ROUNDED lugs to secure the bucket, and if it's on tight, you can use a mallet to bump it off. I wouldn't want to use a mallet on the shark teeth on the EA. Really, the only difference is raw material. Maybe you get a better quality steel, but you have to decide if the cost difference is worth it. Also, the EA seems to have become more like the piranha, which means that maybe BXpanded had something right from the start. This isn't choosing one over the other, just logical observations.

@@markbest5127 my piranha bar is rounded up so bad there would be no way to grind it flat other than maybe welding material back onto the teeth and grinding them flat. The teeth are still sharp in the inner parts but that never hit pavement. Certainly not made for what I used it for. I still have it on the bucket though as it still works good for digging dirt and pulling scrub brush.

As a heavy equipment operator (Cat 928G) I know, as others have mentioned, that the teeth on a bucket are for creating purchase points to make entering or digging into the material easier. PSI is the factor. As stated when teeth wear on the bottom, it doesn't matter. I am not going to keep my bucket level anyways. The indexable teeth on my bucket are vastly different. If I need to scrape material off the highway or some other surface, I change buckets to one with a bolt on wear edge. I don't keep the bucket perfectly flat either. The argument of as it wears on the underside it will affect ones cutting poorly is incorrect. With either EA or any other brand tooth bar, dig or rip. Take it off to do flat things. EA, I'm not second guessing your product, but you're method of demonstration needs improvement. I suggest you make another video that correctly demonstrates your product. Especially since you've mentioned that it was a prototype. You have great products, show it in action.

I love EA. Have some of their attachments and will be getting more. I also love my Piranha tooth bar. I have 400 hours on my Piranha and it is never removed from my bucket. You are correct in that the Piranha is a mild steel but what you are missing is that this feature allows it to be self sharpening. I don't push my Piranha across asphalt but I do use it for moving dirt, sand, rock, shale and wood. If you back drag the Piranha it will sharpen just like stoning a knife. I just finished moving 350 tons of shale and then leveled the same with the Piranha flat on the ground. It's as sharp as it was new. You may slightly dull it with one task and it will sharpen with the next. The bottom of the Piranha is still flat and the angle of the cutting edge has remained the same but I operate the bucket with that in mind. Also if one wanted to hand sharpen the Piranha, the task would be relatively easy. There is absolutely no play in the Piranha fit to my bucket and it takes a mallet to loosen it up when I remove it for painting. I would expect that if a bar is made of much harder steel, then the tooth configuration and cutting angle would also have to be altered for optimum effect. Therefore, using a Piranha as a baseline for your design template may not be optimum. I would like to see a varied tooth design - some that are effective for cutting into soil and media and others effective for scooping rip rap and prying roots, stumps and logs. I'll keep watching as your design progresses.

@@EverythingAttachments Just think it will be more beneficial to potential customers by producing videos for the Tooth bar using it for what it was designed for. I understand that the video was designed to show the toughness and durability but it does nothing to show what it can do on the job. Make a video of it destroying some brush, shearing off saplings or cutting down a hillside of dirt. Something the customer would use it for. Who buys one so they can drag it across the pavement??

Thanks for the words of wisdom. Actually, our edge is plenty sharp for doing pretty much anything one could ever want to do, and the Wicked serrated teeth on our newest version(yes, we went through V1 and V2 as testing prototypes, before reaching the final, Wicked perfect model) will grip and rip vines, bushes, saplings, roots, rocks and other rubbish, rather than trying to shear. The teeth also greatly enhance the digging ability in compacted soil. The angle of our bevel is also optimal for aggressive digging and ripping. Yeah, we don't make average attachments with questionable material. We make the most premium attachments with the strongest, most durable and longest lasting steel. Thanks for watching and commenting. It really helps our channel.

Not sure this test was not compromised. With the Piranha, the camera was squarely on the blade when on pavement, where as the second bar tested showed only a view of the back of the tractor. So I’m not convinced this test is any more accurate then our last election. That said, we all know it’s possible to destroy anything if you work hard enough at it. Whether moving dirt or gravel both these bars should perform well for many yrs.

Just a tick of advise. Take this video down and produce another. Your tooth bar may be better or just a good tooth bar but I can't get past the idea that the guy who made it is the same guy that dragged a public road with a tooth bar. Food for thought.

Hey David, the Wicked is more for very good reasons, and it's not because more profit is built in. It's because wayyy more value is included. You're spending money on something that's 100% made of metal, and Wicked is the best metal you can invest in. Hardox 450 is superior to the soft mystery metal in which another manufacturer won't even disclose. Besides material, Wicked is wider, front to back. Our wedge keepers are placed in laser cut holes and welded on top, and smoothly on the bottom for unmatched strength and rigidity. We cut the overall length exact to the measurement you supply. The laser cut, serrated WICKED teeth are designed to dig, rip, and grip unlike any other bar ever created. The milled bevel, which is sloped at a much more aggressive angle than the cheaper toohbar in question, allows you to better slice into material like a hot knife through butter. I hope this justifies the price difference. Most Wicked Toothbar orders have been shipping in 4 weeks or less, and it ships to your home via FedEx Ground. We look forward to welcoming you into the EA Family!

I can't get past all the karens commenting on destruction of property and how its not a good test. The scratches on the road are superficial and are just scratches, didn't hurt the road one bit at all. The state also didn't pay for shit, that company probably pays more in taxes per year than most of these bitchin karens pay in a lifetime, get over it. The test is made to be extraordinary because noone would sit here for 20 years watching a guy dig a pile of dirt showing how little its going to wear out. That's the point of him beating the hell out of the equipment, it shows you the limits (if they can be found even) so you know the product can handle it. If you have your doubts about this company and have not bought from them before, they make good stuff! You won't be disappointed.

The piranha tooth bar is sharp like a knife and the ea tooth bar is blunt to me that's not good for digging in dirt as a regular bucket should work as good.

This was an early prototype, and the sharper, more aggressive WICKED is all that we've ever shipped. 100% Hardox 450, so it'll stay Wicked sharp much longer than any other!

This makes me want to never buy another EA product. Who the heck does this to a public road?

For one, the state does every time it snows, but they take out grass, mailboxes, driveways and such. Thanks for watching and commenting. It really helps our channel.

@@EverythingAttachments I'm certain they are using a toothless bucket to clear the roads for public safety. Are you really comparing the state attempting to clear roads (who own the roads) to you doing a KZbin video as apples to apples? You can clearly see the grooves in the asphalt only on the part of the road that you're doing this on. I'm one of dozens of people commenting on this... listen to your viewers. You have great products, its just a shame to see you use them to destroy roads that tax payers paid for to prove a point for a video.

This guy is crazy, putting it to the public street all in the name of a test. I'm sold if he isn't scared, then why should we be.

Sorry I just can’t imagine dumping my bucket onto my concrete pad and running across those saw joints with my tooth bar at 10 mph. Not sure what the point is. Pun intended.

For testing, we do many things that most folks can't imagine. It allows us to find weak points, if they're present, and improve upon the design if needed. Yeah, other manufacturers aren't as transparent as EA, but most of our customers appreciate the efforts. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Not to mention the fact that Ted specifically mentions that he’s testing them both with the loader in “float”. I guess he was hoping we all forgot the first test with the front wheels off the ground.

The Pirahna is intended for a much different application. Just like grapple buckets, industrial are for hard matters as opposed to milder steel for its intended use . Of course I would never use an industrial Grapple for mild tree branch & sappling work and that goes the same with hard & very heavy materials, These are in affect price point sensibility, again proper equipment contingent to job demands. I would never use a 120 hp machine in a 1 acre lot that requires mild grading and excavating, 60hp will generous for the application. EA products are excellent, however so as the BX products I would by both for intended purpose and price point in mind.

What a silly "test". Dragging flat across a street surface. That is not how tractor buckets are used. Obviously a concocted test to load the dice against the piranha toothbar. This is why I look for independent tests by third parties and not put much faith in the biased "tests" by the manufacturer. Next time I want to sjave the whiskers off a road, I'll contact EA.

Hello:::: I just heard of this bar. I wish a State Trooper was setting on other side of road when he dropped the blade. That Dumb Bass would probably be going to Jail. I now wonder what other Clown moves he makes. Does EA, Piranha and Wicked Tooth Bar make these Bars. Now I don't even know if I want one.
