Yeah it's obvious they've never seen or played hard Corp. It's trying to look like hard Corp but it doesn't play like it. Hard Corp was more refined and never ate my button inputs 😂 This game can b frustrating and most of the deaths are cheap. 1 major things I hate is your slide/roll isn't invincible like hard Corp and I've been in positions where I re-spawn and die instantly. It's not a 9 for me, more like a 6

@@newkgn1978 after playing it in-depth i have to agree with you. Ive died so many times trying to drop down from a floating ledge just to roll right into an attack instead. I' ve NEVER played a game in the history of action/platforming where you cant drop through floating platforms.....

Plus it would be far more beneficial to have a function that locks you in one direction so you can runbackward and shoot and the same time. That alone would positively affect the gameplay drastically.

@@anthonymccall3064 it's promising but it needs refining. Rolling is one of my biggest dislikes. Rolls/slidrs are always invincible. Makes no sense if u can't roll/slide pass an enemy. Why roll in the 1st place 😂

Just got this Gem sent to me from Limited Run and can't wait to play it. Its going to fit nicely along side Wild Guns in my Switch Collection Love these retro throwback games most of my collection on the switch is made up of physical versions of these games.

The backgrounds and level designs are a mish mash of the two games, if you haven't played on or the other I can see how you might make that mistake.

How are the controls? ie: button mapping? I hope it has a very similar control style to Contra 3 where you can swap weapons by pressing the L + R buttons, or using those buttons to shoot prone. I found Hard Corps controls to be not as intuitive as Contra 3 controls because of button placement on a 3 button Genesis controller.

I've already played this and beaten it. I just wanted to see what critics think. But what is with putting the most spectacular section of the final boss in the review? Spoiler much? When the game switched to that pseudo-3D scrolling my jaw dropped, and you just spoiled that moment potentially for many people.

It's not that SNK doesn't have interest in doing a game like this anymore, but the majority of players these days don't appreciate 2d hand drawn games any more, so they were forced to follow market trends by doing 3d games. Also, I'm puzzled why you didn't mention Capcom as they have giving up in 2d claiming that they had done everything their is to do with 2d graphics. Games like Blazing Chrome are good, but they are merely ripoff of older classic games and do nothing to advance 2d technology, and I believe 9 is too high of a score for those very reasons. Don't reward game makers for ripping of the ideas of others. It's nice to see games like this, but that score is just to high for a borrowed idea. Well, that's my take on it anyway.

Great game! I finished it on normal and easy mode. I'm not going to attempt hardcore mode. I played through the campaign solo, but I'll be playing it in Co-op when friends come over.
