Everyday I get comments about bleeping words. I'm trying to keep ads on my video. Plain and simple and I know the hard R can get videos demonetized. I've been a KZbinr for 9 years across many channels in different niches. I have a good understanding of what flies and what doesn't on KZbin. "Why bleep that word, but not other slurs?" Again, I know what words get auto-flagged. Just like in other videos how I blur blood in some scenes and not others. I'm navigating KZbin guidelines.

Jay Bond:. The problem they have about the censorship goes hand in hand with what you said at the end of your reaction. At the end of your reaction you said that you realized the movie wasn't as offensive as you initially thought because how they treated the sensitive subject matter in this movie. I think that's why so many reactors catches flack in the comments in regards to this movie. Once you see the movie the movie itself takes care of anyone feeling offended by what was is said in the movie. I'm an older black man and I have never been offended by this movie because I am laughing so hard that I didn't have time to be offended. I think this is one movie where reactors should just react to this movie without worrying about what the KZbin censors think. I will add this. I like how you edited your reaction on this movie. Your editing on this movie flowed better than many others who have reacted to this movie.
@JayBondReacts
@JayBondReacts Жыл бұрын
@@beaujac311 Thank you. I pride myself on making the movies flow well in my reactions. Yeah, when you realize the joke is making fun of the racists there's not much to be offended by. I get where you're coming from, but censoring for KZbin is important (not only for the ads) but so you don't get community guidelines strikes which can get your channel removed completely. Saying the hard R in videos is definitely one of the things KZbin will take down channels for. The problem is, bots run KZbin so they don't understand what is fiction in a movie and what the creator themselves said. I have a 100k+ channel that is shadowbanned for something similar and I'm just trying to protect myself with this channel. Appreciate the feedback and hope this makes more sense as to why I censor some stuff.

@Gerald H There was actually a film about him that was made in 1979, starring British comedic actor, Leonard Rossiter (known best for his roles in Rising Damp & The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin TV shows). The ironic thing is that Le Petomane's real name was Pujol, which kinda sounds rectal related as well. Allegedly he didn't actually fart as such as it was said that what he did was inhale air in through his rectum due to having full control of his rectal muscles, and would then exhale the same air rather than actual gas created in his body naturally.

The answer to your question about how we got to where we are today with racism it's that people found it's more lucrative to push victimization than coexistence. The co-writer of this screenplay was Richard Pryor, who was supposed to play the sheriff but the studio fought it, was one of the many comedians and leaders who tried to remove the power of racist language, and it worked for awhile. People would at the idiots with distaste and ridicule, but then the preaching to be offended by everything took over and we are worse off now than a few years after this movie was released. Society had drained the power from racists then political leaders plugged it in and charged it back up.

It makes people feel like an idiot to say the harshest insult they can think of, and have the reaction be a shoulder shrug and indifference from their victim. As you say in the reaction, what Mel did with this film is turn things on it's head with regards to race. While it initially looks like a racist movie (and as you said with Mongo, they are out to offend everyone), once you get further in you realise that what he was doing is showing how bigoted some people can be (not just against race either). Mel used every single thing he could from black people, Chinese, Jewish, mentally disabled, gay & all points in between, to show how shitty some people can be, and in this film it's easy to see that the only bad guys were the white ones. (if you discount the bit with recruiting). I don't know a single person offended by this film as they all get what Mel was trying to achieve. Sadly, due to how things are now he would never be able to make a film like this now. It's sad that this kind of bigotry still exists, but it is also sad that even well meant humour like this is deemed offensive as well.

Very well said. Thankfully everyone is on the joke. Everyone is getting cancelled these days for a Netflix standup show and it's a shame. There are certainly things that I find offensive but when it comes to comedy sometimes crossing the line is what makes some jokes hit harder like "Oh my god, I can't believe he just said that" with your reaction still chuckling. It's a super fine line though because not everyone has the same intentions. A balancing act when done well, like this, stands the test of time.

Mel Brooks is such a great comedian. He also plays three roles in this film. He’s the Governor, Indian Chief and an aviator standing in line to work on Lamar’s villain team. The actor that plays Lyle (Taggerts second in command) was having trouble using the “N” word around Clevon Little. Clevon took him aside and said “It’s not your words, you’re just reading a script” which made him feel better about the part. The scene where Mongo hits the horse the horse is trained that when it’s reign is pulled it turns it’s head that way and drops to the ground. The song that Lily Von Shtupp sings on stage Mel Brooks said was the dirtiest song he’s ever written. The fart scene was supposedly the first time it was done in a film. Mel Brooks sat in an editing room with an editor recording fart sounds and bringing anyone that happened to walk by the room inside to record their “fart” sounds.

Saw this at the drive-in in 1974. My favorite joke in the movie is one most people don't get. The railroad workers ask the townsfolk for homesteads for helping them build the fake town. After a quick huddle the townsfolk reply, " We'll take the n_____s and the ch___s but we won't take the Irish!" Of course most young people have no clue how the Irish were despised when they came here, primarily because they were Catholic. America has always hated Catholics, in 10 of the 13 colonies it was illegal to be Catholic. Mel Brooks called everyone on their bigotry.

Her death hit me hard as a kid because I loved her and her SNL sketches growing up. And you could tell how much she and Gene loved each other. I recommend Hanky Panky and Haunted Honeymoon. They also did The Woman in Red together, but Kelly LeBrock was more the love interest than Gilda. Haunted Honeymoon esp. was awesome largely because of Dom Deluise.

For the theme song, they wanted someone who sounded like Frankie Laine, a famous vocalist who had sung the theme songs of several classic Westerns in film and television. When they put out the audition call, they were stunned when Frankie Laine himself showed up. They hired him on the spot, and he gave the recording 110%. Afterwards they realized nobody had told Laine that the movie was to be a parody, and they were so worried that he would be insulted.
