Ngl given this really has the potential to be an LBP game run exclusively by the community. Like new content being patched in via mods, custom servers hosting levels and such. I know that would be VERY ambitious but it would be sick!

It really wouldn't, the barrier of entry to get emulators setup, a PC capable of running it etc are way too high to get any success.

I think this could have been a huge thing if it actually released. Maybe we would still have lbp in the mainstream if there was such a strong base hub game where everything could be played from... But alas, we got LBP3 instead...

@@DaScreamThat was mostly Sony’s fault rather than Sumo’s. Sony never gave Sumo much time since LBP3 was also meant to run on PS4 which the Engine at the time couldn’t do. So therefore it’d have to be modified while also keeping its backwards compatibility with the previous games. Plus Sony wanted it to be released early for Black Friday, add on the fact that there’s ALOT of unreleased content that’s meant to be released for everyone to use. I mean I’m not fused whether someone blames Sumo or Sony. I mostly just blame Sony for LBP3 for being a buggy mess…

I think LBP Hub was going to be a live fee to play service game. Then you could “buy” lbp 1 and lbp2 as a dlc and just play everything in one game. I’m sure they would’ve released expansions that costed money but it would’ve been way ahead of its time.

Dude, seeing this pop up in my recs made me so happy, you have no idea... One of the biggest pieces of LBP thought lost to time, now partially preserved? Genuinely awesome! Here's hoping an in-depth custom server for it gets made. I'd love to see the challenge and live-update functionality brought to its fullest potential, for sure! Infinite possibilities for community-driven content...

I’d always wondered what the next Little Big Planet game could look like if they ever made another one, and honestly, this is exactly what I’d want. The story mode of LBP1, 2, and 3, and just a few little bonuses. I see no reason why they couldn’t just make release this now, adding LBP3 to the mix, and maybe adding a graphics changer to go back to the LBP1 or 2 art-style. Maybe one day…

HUB model is to most likely to live stream the LBP, so evolution of it is not dependent on game releses and DLC and port it to future platfroms and potentially PC if it would survive, this is littely what future of LBP suppose to be and LBP1 and 2 and even potentially 3? would be purchasable

I think I can speak for everyone here. Despite how lbp got purged. If lbp 4 came out. And it had that lbp 1 and 2 essence and it could bring back my 10-11 year old self…. I would gladly without a doubt as my 22 self would play that game until the end of time. This game.. made my childhood fun and I miss those moments

For the time being, we can only hope these games will be properly preserved even as dump files for RPCS3, and that Restitched will continue the LBP legacy if Sony doesn't do so themselves. It's nice that Sackboy: A Big Adventure is available on PC, but the series in its original intent deserves to be preserved as a remaster or remake for both platforms, so that everyone will be happy. Especially if they manage to get a GOG release, thanks to the benefits of no DRM.

It sounds like Hub was meant as a single game where you could play both 1 and 2 stories I'm guessing the downloadinator was going to be for downloading the story mode chapters, not just from the main game, but DLCs too I'm guessing it's something similar to MGS4 and how the game was installed by acts because the game was pretty huge in size, maybe you could download/delete the chapters of story mode in a similar way? But then again, you could just delete LBP 1 and 2 and just keep Hub for both, so who knows. It's been a while since I've played 2, but if I remember correctly, even your materials from 1 get transferred to 2, so it probably shouldn't take that much more space But that's my guess, I just feel like the downloadinator was supposed to be for people with Phat PS3s who didn't have much space, remember the model with the most space was only 80GB

So, LBP Hub was essentially a grand unifying tool to connect the three/two game's assets and stories together, while adding additional community challenges and content to tie it all together? Honestly, if they did this now for PS5, a live service LBP game that can play all 3 games story modes and any dlc, maybe even throw in remakes of the PSP and Vita stories. Would be so fucking fire, and just what the series needs at this point. It is kinda crazy, it was one of their top franchises at one point. I think they want to somewhat keep it alive considering the spinoff games they've released (such as Sackboy: A Big Adventure) but I don't know if/when they'll take the leap to make another big main game. It comes with a lot of baggage.

This is actually REALLY interesting because if the community patches in a lot of the stuff that is missing (such as story, dlc, servers, etc) that could mean we could get what would be somewhat of a definitive version of lbp2 + 1 including both story modes. It's a shame that it's not THAT big but it's really cool that if the community could bring it far enough it'd be possible to only play the leaked beta + patch in the stuff via the other games, it sounds like such a nice QOL.
