@@ogun9645 I feel like the best anime/stories seem to be ones with the endings already decided. It makes sense. But anime like Bleach, Parasyte, FMAB and AoT already know where they're going to end up, so they can have so much fun messing with the start and middle by sprinkling little bits of awesome foreshadowing throughout. So many anime/tv shows/stories are just being made to pump out non-stop sequels that have no end in sight so they can just get that next pay-cheque and they end up very confused, contrived and full of plot holes.

Its never explained in the show but seated ranks after Captain and Lieutenant go from 3-20. All seats 3-10 are held only by one person while those 11 and up have multiple in the rank. SO Hanataro being a 7th seat is actually a real testament to his skill and potential power

the "which seat did you get" hits differently once you learn that Rukia didnt get a officers rank because Byakua didnt want her in harms way. So he is not disappointed in this scene.. quite the opposite.

Rukia wasn't strong enough when she first joined to be an officer. Later she did get strong enough and Byakuya stopped it, but she wasn't at that level when she joined, she couldn't even call her sword until Kaien actively trained her.

13:21 Unless someone in the show said it and I forgot, I would say that the events of this flashback were around 40-50 years ago, because at that time Ganju was a child when Rukia brought Kaien’s body to the Shiba Clan. After Byakuya stabbed Ichigo in their first encounter he told Rukia he did look a lot like “him”, and when Ukitake first saw Ichigo, he looked more shocked after seeing his face. Both of them were referring to Kaien.

It doesnt have to be that long ago. Could be 20 or even less. If you are a Soul child that is well taken care of it seems like you grow normally until you hit your 20s or so and then stop aging or age incredibly slowly at that point. Gamju couldve been around 10 and 10 years later is done growing.

@@ComicCrossing Then there's Toushirou, who grew at an incredibly slow pace. He grew up in the First District with his grandmother and Momo, so he wasn't malnourished, just lonely and ostracized. So maybe soul children grow at the pace in relation to how much riatsu they have? The greater their latent power, the slower they grow? It gets confusing, because in Rukia & Renji's childhood flashback, they seemed to grow up at a normal human's pace, they went from children to late teens in a mere ten years, unless the dub made a mistake in translation on that episode.

The soul society is a very old era they still do old customs to this day they are stagnant. The idea of the soul society being like this was something that ichigo saw odd when Rukia talked about destroying mod souls. This is also what Rukia faced when ichigo wanted to fight grand fisher alone it’s why she wanted to step in but this moment is why it hit her harder to let ichigo fight alone or help him. The hollow fell on Kaien’s sword because kaien took control again like miyako when Kaien jumped in front of her.

This episode is weirdly adapted when compared to the manga. In the manga, her whole squad was killed including her, but parts of her body were recovered. Here they kind of made it more gruesome by having her return alive, kill her comrades, and then get eaten alive from the inside out.

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised that after his sword got destroyed by the Hollow, he didn't think to pick up his wife's sword. Sure, he couldn't use her shikai, but a weapon's a weapon. It could even be symbolic of them fighting together to keep both of their honor. Well, it is what it is, I guess.

Remember the first episode that Byakuya destroyed Ichigo, when he said to Rukia, i get it, he looks a lot like HIM, and when Juchiro Ukitake first saw Ichigo and ask Byakyua, who he was !?! This is why... Kaien and Ichigo are not just looking alike, they are very similar in terms of personalities and value...They both have their heart at the right place, protecting their comrade, help others in need and fight with honour...I believe this is another of the reasons why Rukia trusted Ichigo in the human world... Also something i always wonder after that episode that i want to know your thought on it...What is the real reason why Juchiro Ukitake didn't filled the spot of Kaien after his death ? Was it because of guilt ? Sorrow ? Maybe it was because he didn't find a replacement inside his own squad ? Or there wasn't any who fitted his personality ? What do you think the reason his ?!?

The fighting for pride thing makes more sense when you're a spiritual being and you know that you're part of a life cycle and know that dying isn't really the end. It's not the same for us regular humans. Also, it's what Kaien wanted and Ukitake was fulfilling a request for his officer.

I love that we delve deeper into Rukia's character and her life. She is a very well written female character. She was alone for 40 years, ignored by Byakuya and even Renji, but Kaien and Miyako were there for her. She thinks she doesn't deserve to be saved, but Ichigo breaks into another dimension for her sake ❤😢

She wasn't ignored by Renji, they were in completely separate squads that didn't interact and as a member of one of the great noble families, Renji wasn't of high enough rank yet for it to be acceptable for him to have an audience with her. Thats why his promotion to Lieutenant was such a big deal when it happened, Ikkaku says now he can talk to her whenever he wants as an equal.

The word samurai is plural, it's about the last remaining group of samurai, it is not about Tom Cruise being the last samurai, also his character is based on a real person, a french soldier that did help the samurai. honor historically dictated the value or worthiness of a person/family which is why it was often more important than someone losing there life, even after death it was how society remembered someone through the culmination of actions taken throughout said life which explains why fighting to retain someone's honor was sacred even if the odds aren't in your favor. the difference between honor and pride 'Honor' inspires one to do the right thing out of concern for one's reputation, whereas 'pride' impels one to act deceptively or destructively just for looking good in others' eyes.

Ichigo could tell he said his name but could not hear it. Also i the fact that in the dub old man zangetsu just says to ichigo “i am zangetsu” and then Ichigo is like “why couldn’t I hear his name??”
