I suspect because then there would be nothing keeping Nel from just staying with Ichigo all the time. Which would likely attract extremely powerful Hollows. Which would endanger Ichigo's family. Except Nel would protect them. And in between all that, Orihime would watch the feelings between Nel and Ichigo grow, and long story short, no Kazui. Orihime might be a little crazy, but she's not stupid.
