I'm glad someone in the Bleach community is approaching this subject sensibly instead of grabbing the pitchforks and flaming torches. The concern and hot takes and Doomsday raving over this issue are way overblown, and a number of absolutely false fears have already arisen. The main one, that 'Bleach will be censored', has already been addressed multiple times by multiple sources, including by Poxal here, but let's reiterate: Disney has the streaming rights, but the odds of them being able to force their stream to be a 'censored' version is next to nil, especially since they have embraced Fox' R-Rated library they recently acquired and have even moved related materials (like the Fox Marvel IPs) to Disney+ already, like Deadpool, that Poxal mentioned. But here are some more concerns that are frankly empty: "If Disney doesn't simulcast but leaves it in their 'jail', it'll affect Bleach's viewership and popularity and could lead to further Bleach stories like 'Can't Fear Your Own World' from getting animated." Look, I hate to break this to you, but the world does not revolve around the US and what it does, particularly when it comes to the world of anime. How Bleach performs outside of Japan will have NO bearing on if it is truly perceived as successful or not, and whether there will be more of the product or not. Anime and manga are made for Japanese audiences first and foremost; that's not to say that they don't care at all about their foreign market, but success overseas will be a bonus, not the determining factor. The anime was not revived because a bunch of American anime fans suddenly discovered that the long-maligned Bleach was actually better than Naruto and One Piece and interest in Bleach skyrocketed because of that; Bleach has, even after the end of both its manga and anime run, remained a very popular series in Japan and been of continued interest, and it is that continued interest in its home country of Japan that helped convince its owning companies to finally revive the anime and finish the adaptation of the manga. It will likely be a hit there regardless of what happens with it here in the US, and while a continuation of anime into the sequel Light Novel territories is a definite possibility, how it's streamed in America will have no bearing on whether or not it happens. "The series is doomed to Disney Jail." This is a definite possibility, but far from certain. I've watched a few videos on the subject--apparently more than Poxal--and there is reason for concern that Disney will not simulcast it, but until we get word we don't know for certain. Poxal mentions Disney+ series like the MCU and Star Wars series they've produced as evidence that they are prone to weekly releases, but it's easy to point out that those were Disney's own IP, not a foreign series they acquired the rights to stream. The main evidence people use to justify their fear is the series Summer Time Rendering, a recent anime acquired by Disney+ for streaming (as Bleach was) that was aired only in Japan and has not yet been released in the US; and this reminds people of 'Netflix Jail', as anime on that platform were held until a block of episodes, say, 12 or so, were released, and then aired in the US, apparently under the idea that most people enjoy binge-watching nowadays rather than watching week to week. This precedent is enough to justify the fears. But there are still differences. Bleach is still one of the most popular and well-known anime in the world, a long-running and venerable series, not a recent flash-in-the-pan newcomer like STR. Second, there could be several reasons behind Disney not yet releasing their owned anime series outside of Japan; they could be stockpiling their content until they have a big enough 'collection' or 'brand' of anime to justify a new section of Japanese anime to stand alongside Marvel, Star Wars, and their other properties on Disney+ that get their own tabs. Acquiring the rights to stream Bleach--including, perhaps most importantly, the already extant long-running series--could be close to the final piece needed to finally grant us the 'Disney+ Anime' brand here in the West. "Disney+ acquiring Bleach is terrible for the anime, and could destroy it's popularity here in the west." This one is another that is incredibly far from the truth. Poxal again partially addressed this in his video; being acquired by a major, popular streaming service like Disney+, by the what is now actually the most popular streaming service in the world, is only a good thing for Bleach in the long run. Now, at the current moment, Disney+ doesn't even air its owned anime outside of Japan; but let's not pretend it won't be released here at some point, and being on a major platform like Disney+ will only help it. Even if it isn't released in time with the Japanese airings, that doesn't hurt Bleach at all--it only hurts you, the anime fans who want to watch it every week as it is released. It may sound cruel and I'm sure you don't want to hear it, but it is the truth. Even tho it is relatively popular and well-known, the majority of America is not salivating over the release of Bleach and begging to see it weekly, it's actually a pretty small minority that has its attention on Bleach right now. But being on Disney+ could end up bringing a LOT more attention to Bleach down the line, get more eyes on it, more views, more downloads, whatever have you; the idea of marketing in general is rarely to satiate the fans you have, the idea is to create MORE fans. I'm sorry to say, you, the concerned viewer and current fan, are not Viz' or Disney's priority, it's the millions of as-yet-unreached fans who can and will find the series, especially once it already has a bulk of episodes and more content to watch, and will bring in even more revenue for them. Right now, we still know too little to go borrowing trouble. If, because of being on the currently anime-unfriendly Disney+, Bleach is not released simulcast with Japan's airings of the new TYBW, that will be upsetting to a lot of fans and not be a good thing. But in another year and a half, all the concerns we have now will probably mean nothing regardless of what happens; and being worried will change nothing. If YOU are concerned about being personally affected should Bleach not be simulcast in the West on Disney+, by all means, I encourage you to raise a social media campaign towards Disney, raise tweets and petitions and such to let them know that there is an existent fan base wanting to see Bleach as soon as possible (give me a link to your petition, I'll sign it), but stop pretending that the worst-case scenario that makes you unhappy is going to 'kill' Bleach.

@@P0xal Related: my sister pointed out to me later that Netflix not only bundles their anime releases, but even their own original shows are released in blocks and not weekly. So on one side we have a company that produces its own shows weekly and simulcasts anime on a sister streaming service and on the other a company that releases all its content in blocks. Even more evidence that assuming it will go the way of Netflix is borrowing unnecessary trouble

So based off everything you said, to hell with us out west right? As long as it does good in Japan who cares about us right? That's the real concern here, episodes being bulk dropped for binge watching. We know what bleach is and how amazing it is, Disney doesn't give a damn ok. Look at how they treat the stuff they own, it's not looking great. You just dismiss the fans out west so nonchalantly like our concerns don't matter, I will admit a lot of them are a reach. What it boils down to is a simulcast release and the concern that Disney will not do that. Start a petition? Yea because Disney really listened to all the star wars fans right? They knew what they had with that and that fanbase is huge.. they pissed off the fans to please the non fans. Now this is only the streaming rights that they own, they can't censor nothing. What they can do is say f*ck you to the fans out west and wait to release it all at once. But hold on, we don't matter out west as long as it's successful in Japan. It's just a bonus if it's successful in the west like you said. It's a real concern, you have to take into account how long we have waited. I myself have been waiting ten years like so many others, so forgive a lot of people for the overreacting. A series that means a lot to the rest of us is in the hands of Disney, as far as the streaming rights. It's already been said that the anime will add some things here and there and it will be how kubo truly wanted to end the series. That's where discussion gets killed, that's where hype dies out. You're not wrong, as long as it does well in Japan then it's gonna be fine. I just find it quite rude how you just dismiss the real concern of us fans out west. Like we don't matter for nothing and that's f*cked up.

It’s not doomed but it’s definitely in “danger”, depending on what Disney Does, this will either be the best or the worst case scenario. If they choose to simulcast it, then literally there couldn’t have been a better situation but if it isn’t simulcasted it will be in a really weird spot. Comes down to if Viz was even somewhat competent with their contracting. The amount of Disney+ users, new viewer groups and Disney level marketing will be so good it’s absurd, and with all the worry I doubt Disney+ will screw up here. Disney wants as much money as possible and they probably realize how profitable proper treatment of Bleach will be. Like come on, anime in general is super profitable and Bleach is likely the biggest iP Disney will get their hands on for a long time if ever depending on how well Bleach does.

@@gregpenismith1248 they care about money, that’s all they care for. From what I understand they have a direct day in what happens with Marvel and Star Wars, so they can just milk those franchises all they want. With Bleach the only thing they have is streaming rights, which means they have to market and release it well or else not only are they not going to profit but they likely won’t be able to even make even with how much Bleach must have cost them. Trust me, I hate Disney as much as anyone but I’m not going to go all glum and say “oh they suck so they’re sure to ruin everything”. They’re shitty people with horrible practices but every move they make is calculated so that they can maximize profit, not simulcasting Bleach wouldn’t be good for their pockets so I’m almost completely sure they’ll do a good job for bleach.

If VIZ wants it simulcast, then it will. There’s absolutely no way they aren’t aware that we want to and expected to watch it in the month we were promised. So on the bright side, we’ll have someone other than Disney to blame for once if it ends up getting released in bulk. The only downside to it not releasing weekly aside from having to wait to watch it legally (we’ll watch it illegally anyway, so it’s not a problem) is that it won’t be as successful worldwide as it will be in Japan. But it’s not like it won’t release eventually and still make tons of money outside of Japan, even if it isn’t anywhere near as much as if it was simulcast, and it should do incredibly well in Japan, so we can at least hope that its success there will be enough for the series to continue. Also, some people are just mad because of the fact it’s Disney they’d have to pay money in order to watch, and I think that’s a bit of a stupid reason to be upset because it’s not like Disney won’t continue making money at all if we don’t watch it on Disney+. And like you said, the memes are straight up hilarious and are already giving Bleach more exposure than Crunchyroll probably ever would have, so simulcast is really the ONLY thing we should be worried about, and it’s not like it’s the end of the world.

Their is a free option though, it's called the dozens of free anime. Also Disney paid a lot for this they aren't going to mess it up. They screwed up a single anime series but also are responsible for star wars visions which is incredible and was done right. Also crunchyroll is removing their free option soon

@@P0xal oh I did not know about crunchy removing the option, that would deff suck. However let's hope Disney proves me wrong, honestly

Disney has no rights to change it. They arent allowed to censor it.

Disney streams logan, a movie where an entire family gets brutally murdered and a guys brains get blown out in graphic detail. They also stream deadpool which has tons of gore and nudity.

I think you're missing the point. The disdain and hatred people have towards Disney right now is at an all time high. Even though from what you're saying Disney won't screw over TYBW, there's still a lot of people that will REFUSE to sign up and give Disney money to watch Bleach, and will download it elsewhere. Going to Disney was the worst possible move for Bleach.

I disagree, Crunchyroll is just as awful of a company . If you don't want to watch officially than pirate it, only a small fraction of ppl are upset because of it's companies policies ect

@@P0xal For now. Bleach is a trojan horse for Disney to get a larger reach into the Anime world. TYBW may not get screwed over, but that doesn't mean future IP's won't.

@@P0xal Disney is pretty much saying, "Hey Anime world, you can trust us, let us stream your content." That's just the first phase. After trust is secured, then production licenses will be acquired next. TYBW is nothing more than a predatory move for Disney

You're using logic, this is Disney. Just like a dude in your comments, you're just dismissing the concern like it's no big deal. All I'm hearing ultimately is, who cares about us fans in the west who have waited 10 years. Oh it's no big deal, it could be a good thing and blah blah blah.. wouldn't make sense... Disney makes no sense, they don't operate with logic. So you're telling me, a fan out west, I gotta wait more? So the only people who love this series live in Japan? While a lot of concerns were over blown, the weekly release one is a big one. But, like one of your subscribers, you're probably of the mindset "as long as it does good in Japan". I'm not sure if you're a fan of the series, I am and it means a lot to me. Am I supposed to ignore how the star wars fanbase was treated? I was a marvel movie fan before Disney drove a lot of us out. It's clear to our concerns definitely don't matter to them. And clearly people like you see our concern as nothing, it's not a big deal. We've waited also!!! Bleach is trending because of concerns and memes, that's pretty Damn sad. If it's not dropped weekly (which I belive it won't) that's just another fanbase being slapped in the face. I remember how star wars fans were treated, I remember how marvel fans were treated. They were told the same things, though with them Disney owns their favorite franchises. You wanna talk about series being on Disney plus that are coming out weekly.. those are all non animated shows. Whether you like it or not, summer time rendering is the only example we have of how they will do things with anime. Oh but I'm sorry, it's not a real concern.. I've waited 10 years I can wait more right? Because maybe little Timmy might like it and binge watch it, so let's just alienate people who have waited 10 years. The series will die out west.. look at their history and how they treat fanbases. But I'm sorry I don't know what I'm talking about, my concerns aren't a big deal. I'm just overreacting, not like I'm basing this off how Disney has done business in the past.
