When was that? When Byakuya decided to try and best Ichigo during SS arc and went bankai? When Renji just got his untrained bankai and fought Byakuya? Or was it when Tosen and Komamura used their bankai immediately against Kenpachi? Your point is that they should use their bankai at the end of their fights, not considering that their opponents aren't people who you can use just your shikai against. The anime spoonfed you information and yet you got nothing out of it, actual subhuman.

Most of the Captains' powers rest in their Bankais. While some are very proficient with Kido, it's not enough to make up the deficit of having your Bankai stolen.

Only Lloyd was decently powerful of the three kenpachi killed. Berenice used his ability poorly, fighting alongside Jerome was idiotic. Though of course they should have sent much more than Lloyd, Berenice, and Jerome to take out a war potential.

Byakuya lost Bankai and Trained with Squad Zero then fought As Nodt again and he thought he Shikai was his Bankai cause it was so strong after Squad Zero Soul Reapers need to learn from Goku and Increase their base power to maximize their overall power
