@tejasgangavaram33364 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand all the arguments that Jacob Blake had a criminal history and hence the officers were justified in shooting him in the back. Just because this particular instance does not fit the standard profile of a racial crime, where the black man is completely innocent and the police brutality is completely unwarranted, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a larger systemic problem that needs to be addressed and the players involved in the protests are trying their best to address it. Let us show our solidarity instead of trying to poke loopholes in their actions. I get that most of us don’t have the luxury to abandon our jobs like Kenny but at the least don’t be blind to the fact that what Kenny did entails a level of personal sacrifice and it was a difficult decision. Sure there are other social inequalities that need to also be addressed but let’s start somewhere.

OMB Bloodbath Fan Page When the NBA begins drastically politically involving "political agendas" , there's a problem, A VERY segregative problem. BLM on the court is forcing a political opinion on it's watchers; watchers that base their involvement with the NBA around entertainment. Not politics. The NBA entity is creating segregation, inadvertant or not. Kenny would be best served as an NBA HOST ANALYST, if he just talked basketball; I'll reserve listening to political opinions from the correct minds. Kenny helps to prove the current entitled NBA mentality. These guys are so out of touch with reality. I didn't see Kenny walk off the set when that Young baby boy was shot the other week in Chicago 🤔 I could keep on going. Kenny's "opinional view" is selective at best, an completely unjustified through factual explanation. Hence why he's not a politician. In the words of the great Malcolm X... "Our Black culture has to push for better suited, better black leaders. Our people are receiving poor advice from the wrong want to be people...Our culture has been lead to look up to sports stars, actors, entertainers as figures to lead our cultures progression in this world. It's very sad. We need to stop, as a culture, being fooled by society into thinking these people are suited to help mold our futures." Yup, Kenny is a damn fool to make a political stance on an agenda based around entertainment. He's there to work, not be a false prophet.

@browniegreen10904 жыл бұрын
Micah Bell not so easy to understand. Because we come together and cheer for teams in the same arena doesn’t necessarily mean we’re unified. We clearly see this by what’s going on in this country today. I understand the guys wondering why they’re out there playing ball and the country is going to hell in a hand basket. Why would anyone be interested in watching any sports right now. This country has a lot of work to do, by all of its citizens. Starting with its leadership. It starts from the head down. If the head is messed up the body can’t function properly. The problem of racism needs to be dealt with in this country. And it’s definitely systemic ( it was in the Constitution) Until it is, I’m afraid there’ll be more of the same. People can say the right things with their mouths, but until its in the heart, things remain the same. Laws can’t do that, people have to do that work.

But the issue is white people who dont comply get the benefit of the doubt and just get cuffed or maybe tazed at the worst. For a white guy it takes actually pulling a gun and waiving it to MAYBE get shot bc as a white person, a white cop gives them the benefit of a doubt. But when your black, your already looked down on and these racist cops are just itching to gun you down for anything. Its like a white person is going crazy it's a white cops first instinct to rationalize and de-escalate. But black people have to be extra compliant and cant say shit bc it's like engrained to "put down the animal"....thats the imbalance, thats the Injustice.

Skylar Bryant - do your research. They already tried tasing him. He reportedly had a knife. The officer hit him 4 times. Seven shots fired. It is largely speculated he was going for a weapon. Which, if he got hold of, the officer had to neutralize him. Also note, the officer could have killed him but didn’t. I agree on first watch it seems excessive and unjust. But do your research to make sure your have the facts.

Chester Jackson Exactly. They can’t see that they’re being manipulated either. To go into a frenzy for something like this shows huge racial divide in their characters. This was a known criminal resisting and reaching into a vehicle. You’re warned because they want to avoid bloodshed, what do you think will happen when you don’t comply?
@1TotalJabroni4 жыл бұрын
It's not hypocrisy if they're calling out injustice just because they aren't calling out all injustices in the world. That's insane to believe that way and it's clearly a fallacious way of thinking. Standing against systemic social injustices of blacks in this country, and the fact you would you expect otherwise from a league of professional athletes whom 90% of are black and at one point in their lives experienced these injustices firsthand, is foolish on your part. You don't think it's okay for them to take this opportunity to stand up for what they believe is right? You have no clue what these men have gone through in their lives. You just want to find any reason to dismiss and undermine them, and that's on you.

I completely agree this shooting does not appear to be similar to the George Floyd murder, as the suspect was resisting. But the fact that those of you here would actually condone the fact that a man had 7 bullets fired _into his back_ for _reaching in to a vehicle_ is disgusting and tells me how fucked we are as a society. So you think the cops should SHOOT PEOPLE IN THE FUCKING BACK for not complying? You think it's okay to fire 7 times into someone's person for opening a door. No taser. You stand behind a rapist? And someone who attacked police? Remember he walked off over Jacob Blake. A total piece of shit..

🙏 for the people in Kenosha. Jacob Blake admitted he had a knife on the drivers side floorboard. Was he reaching for it? Kind of looked like it.

Doesn't excuse the policeman for acting as an executioner without a trial. The cops have badges, training, and the benefit of the doubt in court. Someone with his back turned is not directly threatening your life at that time. If you can't keep from shooting that person, in the back, before he actually acts in a threatening way, you were trained poorly, whether because you were a poor student or because the training was extremely bad.

@@johnc206 They were fighting before he shot him. There was a warrant out on him so they were trying to make an arrest and he didn't comply he resisted. They tried to use a stun gun but it failed. When he reached in the car he could of grabbed a gun or The knife which is considered a deadly weapon. The officer at this point had every right to shoot him. I will say to shoot him 7 times seems to much but the gun might of been an automatic which fires rounds very quickly and I don't know how easy they are to control. Jacob would of never been shot if he didn't resist the arrest and this is a common problem with cop shootings.

John C an action is faster than a reaction. Let’s say hypothetically someone has a gun down there, they go to reach for it, is the officer going to wait for that person to have the gun out and pointed at them? By then it would be too late if the person in the car’s intent is to kill.

I low key think Kenny did this just to be theatrical and get some good cap, like he could of just not come and someone else could have said why he wasn't there

Kenny Smith and all the other athletes who are boycotting their games for change, you want to make real change? Here's what you do: Give up your career and the thousands and millions of dollars you make a year. Give up any endorsement deals you have, if you can stomach it, and join the police force in the town you play in! Or the very least go on a Ride-a-long program with the local police force. That way you can wonder what is going on with that car that is parked behind the gas station at 2:00 a.m. Or wonder why that car with expired tags or a broken light is speeding away after turn your lights on. Or what to do when you get a call about a person with an active arrest warrant, you tackle them but he gets away, with a knife in their hands, repeatedly ignores you as he walks around their vehicle and tires to get in, reaching for something that you don't know what it could be while your partner is pulling on their shirt trying to keep them out of the vehicle. Go out and get the feeling of taking care of your life, your partners life, worrying if your gonna see your family and make it through your shift and protecting others from someone who doesn't care about anyone but themselves.

None of that bullshit justifies shooting a man SEVEN TIMES in his back in front of his children.
