I don’t understand all the arguments that Jacob Blake had a criminal history and hence the officers were justified in shooting him in the back. Just because this particular instance does not fit the standard profile of a racial crime, where the black man is completely innocent and the police brutality is completely unwarranted, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a larger systemic problem that needs to be addressed and the players involved in the protests are trying their best to address it. Let us show our solidarity instead of trying to poke loopholes in their actions. I get that most of us don’t have the luxury to abandon our jobs like Kenny but at the least don’t be blind to the fact that what Kenny did entails a level of personal sacrifice and it was a difficult decision.
