Thanks a bunch for this video. I feel like this is much simpler than other methods I watched. No special tools, just a second person. I had a small water bottle that I was able to put over the end of my bleeder valve and it kept everything contained. With this technique, my 11 year old son and I were able to bleed the breaks using nothing more than an 8mm crescent wrench. Thanks again.

After struggling to do my rear brakes, i now need to do this. Learned the hard way some vehicle calibers twist in, and using force and a vice doesn't push them in 😂 opened the valve to release pressure and definitely let some air in. Oh well, I have now mastered my brake changes through error!

We are about to try out your method. Your advices very simple and to the point. Cross your fingers and say a little mechanic prayer on our behalf that this works. I the wife will be doing the pumping and my husband will be doing the bleeding portion. I guess that's what you call that procedure. 😆👲👩🚙 Again thanks for your video with the steps that are easy and to the point for people like us who know nothing about fixing vehicles and are wanting to try everything we can before we take it to a auto shop and spend money we can't afford to spend right now. Great little vid, there was only one thing missing and that was "when bleeding brakes you should start from the wheel furthest away for the master cylinder & booster then work your way to the closest" e.g back left, back right, front left then front right all depending on where your master cylinder is. Other than that, your vid it's informative and easy for people with little or no experience 👍

It might be wise to keep from pushing the brake pedal all the way to the floor, as the master cyl. piston gets in the bore where it has never been before, where there may be pits or crap that will cause the master cyl. piston seals to leak. This does not happen very often though.

It's hard to answer that without knowing exactly what your neighbor did. First thing I would look for is any leaks in your brake lines. It would be very noticeable. Make sure you check to see if the fluid is full.

Thanks for the video. Don't you run the risk of sucking in some air when you let the fluid spurt out rather than using a hose attached to bleed valve at one end and dipping into a bottle of brake fluid on other?
@MudRFunR

No. that is why you hold the brake down until the bleeder is closed. Let the pedal back up only when the bleeder is closed so air won't come back in.

Ok so once you open it you wait for all the fluid to come out before you close it and start with the passenger side first?
@MudRFunR
@MudRFunR 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, passenger side rear, driver rear, passenger front, then driver front is the most common way. It may differ on some vehicles. It only takes a few seconds for the fluid to stop. When the pedal is all the way to the floor, then close it. Repeat until no more bubbles come out of the bleeder. Then on to the next bleeder, etc. Just don't let your fluid run dry or you'll be starting all over. Hope this helps!

@@MudRFunR Everything went well. The bolts for the callipers were hard to get off, bought a long torgue wrench which really helped. Replaced callipers and rotors. Save at least $600.00. Neighbour helped with bleeding the brakes.

I changed the front brakes on my 2002 ford f150...forgot to remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.. The brakes are a little spongy..so would I need to pedal bleed only one of the front brake cylinders or both...a little confused?
@MudRFunR

If you had the lines off both sides then they both need to be bled.
