For the lug nuts, 2004 and older trucks used M14 x 1.5 (course thread) lugs and 2005 and newer trucks used M14 x 2 (fine). The the drive shaft flange and yolk share the same splines and can be swapped. Josh, just purchase new or rebuilt injectors in 1 size over. It's the way to go. Keep a spare Crank Position Sensors with you, they will fail at the worste time and cause a "crank no start" condition. If you can afford to, keep an ICP with you as well. If the ICP fails the HPOP will dump all your oil in a minute or so (pretty sure it happened to Colt, it has definitely happened to me and caught it in time).

I wish I lived closer to you guys. I would have donated all my time in helping put this entire rig back together. I'm a Master Certified Ford Diesel Tech. I know these old 7.3L inside and out. After a full rebuild. It can take up to 20 minutes till they will start. Gotta bleed the air out of the injectors. Because they are ran off of oil pressure. When they do start it sounds like gravel inside the engine. Totally normal! Until the air is all gone.

Hint, if you wonder if an axle tube is bent, just pull the axle, if it doesn't stay centered when you pull it away from the mounting surface, it's bent. It'll probably "jump" up as soon as the last bolt is out (this works on full floater axles. The UPS guy is not a "mail" man, He is a delivery driver also known as, "the brown Santa"

Matt. I get your point about a running, driving truck it’s less headache but, even if someone has a truck on the road and daily driving it. That truck could still need thousands of dollars to safety. One thing, I have seen many many times when people are working on their trucks and they work on the rear end when they put it back together And are going down the road the rear end is walking because it didn't get a Aligned perfect. What I mean by that is the rear end is usually off about ten to fifteen degrees .

For the jeep it could be the crankshaft position sensor. Easiest way to tell if it happens again pour water on it to cool it down if it starts up that's your problem

Getting hot and no spark is likely a bad crank sensor, once they cool they work till they die under heat again. If ya wanna test that next time it dies pour a bottle of water on the crank sensor and see if spark comes back. Thanks for the great content as always!

7.3 had mine for over 21 years and loved it the whole time. Things to look for at it's age 1.Porous fuel filter housing 2.Injectors 3.Under Valvecover harness for injectors 4.Turbo pedestal O-rings 5.Up-pipes. Do the hutch mod to keep from hamering the injector tips.

On my 02 7.3 w/3.73 on 35’s, I put the 6.0 trans oil cooler on it and left the bypass intact. Trans oil temps towing a 12K 30’ enclosed car trailer don’t get above the 160’s now. Before with the stock cooler, I’d see 200 without a trailer in the summer in south Texas 100 degree days.

I like to use the s hooks from broken bungee tarp straps. They work good for hanging calipers especially if you don’t like the huge ones lisle makes

For your "fixed itself" coil issue... check the coil ground wire. They get fatigued and break inside the insulation, don't ask me how or why. But I've has two 4.0Ls that did that.

If I had to guess, Josh bought an early 99 super duty? I had problems finding a lot of things for it. I did find it had more in common with the IH counterpart 444ET although the air intake was all its own. I had modified a kit for a 6.0 and some PVC pipe to build one. The injectors can take up to a week to completely bleed out all the air. Also when it was apart it would have been a good idea to change the ICP sensor on the front of the driver side head near the fuel lines going to the HPOP.

What year is this Ford? The new real axel housing has the correct gear ratio to match the old one and the front? Same GVW springs per the door sticker? Regarding injectors, those are super sensitive when rebuilding them. Word is, only use Bosch new or rebuilt for reliability/long life. (they aren't cheap). Poor truck had a bad previous owner when it came to maintenance.

Matt, what is the rating on the winch extension? If I were to add that to my existing 12000 lb winch line, does that reduce the WLL? Using anti seize on an acorn or other tapered lug nut is fine but don’t use it on the flat faced lug nuts. Just make sure the threads are clean as well as the mating surfaces and torque them to the proper spec. If I remember correctly it’s something like 140 - 150 lb. ft. But dry.
