Love watching you fabricate! We just got a Millermatic 252 for our shop at our heavy equipment yard. I can’t wait to learn how to use it !! I’m a little nervous and honestly intimidated a bit though. Nate don't forget to use anti seize on stainless hard ware to prevent cold welding. Stainless on stainless can be a pain to get off after it cold welds it self. Also very nice and clean work as always.

I would be more worried about the strength of stainless. Somewhere between grade 2 and grade 5 on a rig that takes that many hits with a wheel that heavy.

Great video. Something to not is that dissimilar metals corrode eachother just by touching. For instance if you put steal rivets on a piece of aluminum it will rust the rivets.

Nice Brake machine. Interesting method to adapt welding the parts together on the floor w/ chalk lines. I know a frame repair guy who does the same when he is straightening chassis/frames on damaged vehicles. Looking forward to your review on that Miller Welder and more about your welding skills as they improve with "Alu minum" !

Nate, that is awesome! I've been wanting to do something similar, but am not really sure how to best support it structurally. I would love to see how you did the attachment points, surely it's more than just what is external to the Jeep. There has to be some internal support as well? Great job, and keep it up. @@phu1324 it's a tj leaf spring bushing kit from 4wheel parts. Runs about 20 bucks. 2"dom works perfect for the sleeve 🤘

Turned out great man. I'm sure you're aware, but I thought I'd mention it just in case you're not - you said a couple times aluminum is nice because it doesn't rust. It will corrode though, if left exposed to the elements, in a bunch of different ways. And if left untreated, can be pretty catastrophic to a part. But again, nice work on the tire carrier - it looks awesome.

Yeah. You have far more space than I. Already stuffed half my basement with a bench mill, 10" lathe, a 100 year old 30 ton press. Drills, saws and a 4 by 4 diy plasma table that needs wired up still. Add in a couple benches and it's stuffed. 😆

Nice build Nate . I'm loving the construction sections of this channel . I like the way you break things down so regular Joe can understand . Crucially I don't feel like you talk down to your viewers treating them like total dumb-asses . It's also nice to hear a "professional" You Tuber (I don't know if you count yourself as a professional Nate ? No insult intended .) openly admit they don't have a skill set and there's something they can't do and need to learn . I have a feeling there maybe some "I did it this way guys and it was wrong." , "This is the way I should have done it." sections in your upcoming videos as we come along for the ride and learn new skills with you . I’m curious how you mounted the hinge points on the Jeep, if they were strong enough to hold the tire and carrier, and if there was any slop or sag in the carrier?

I love those WKs. If I had one it would be the crd of course lol with an overlander themed build. A reasonable size (33s probably) with tube everywhere! Tube bumpers, sliders, roof rack, the works! And a well designed skid can completely change the capability of any rig! Needs to be able to slide over rocks 🤘

I like this idea. However, you wouldn't be able to mount anything like Off Road In Mind's recovery gear box, for example. What are your thoughts on mounting things like this to the back of your tire? Assuming the tire carrier can bear the weight, of course.

What do you do for the third brake light? I put a cheapy LED bar type one (along with a backup camera) on my DV8 tire carrier that mounts basically exactly the same. So, had to run the wires thru the tube on the hinge side with an external service loop to navigate the hinge. I think it works pretty good, but I'd be interested to see what you come up with. I really enjoy your videos.

I've never messed around with the third brake light. I pretty much only drive it on the street when I'm in Moab Utah and if I was getting pulled over up here it wouldn't be for the brake light lol
