Just a tip when doing power steering work. Once you are putting the fluid in, draw a vacuum on the reservoir and it'll pull all of the air out for you before ever turning the pump at all. I use a brake bleeder, that I stuck the hose through a rubber shock bushing I had laying around the garage. Then you can hold that rubber bushing down on the top of the reservoir opening to seal the system. Works fantastic every time, never had a single air bubble or groaning pump!

Hey Colt, nice job! Not trying to be mister know it all, just trying to help everyone. Saginaw PS boxes use different size fittings for pressure and return, can't be incorrectly installed, also when grabbing PS boxes from junk yards, don't forget Saginaw boxes use different types of fittings. Early boxes use inverted flare style of fittings, later boxes use O- ring fittings. This pump upgrade is a must when adding a ram, you really need the increase in PSI and GPM to reap the benefits of the ram

Running power steering through the trans cooler as a part of the radiator helps keep it from "overheating", but also due to the coolant heat, holds it at a stable operating temp of engine operating temp, so that the power steering is not cooling an heating depending on use.

The radiator's transmission fluid cooler is a great idea to keep power steering fluid temperatures in operating range at 180 F and below 250 F. I actually plumbed the trans cooler of my radiator for additional coolant flow from the heater circuit to help combat the Arizona desert heat. I use a separate trans cooler and didn't want to waste the extra cooling capacity of the radiator. The radiator/trans cooler is really a fluid warmer more than it is a cooler. The cold temperature in snow country can make the power steering fluid flow like molasses and put excessive forces on the pump, the lines, and seals causing failure. Good video. Keep Em rollin.

I’ve got a JKU with a 6 inch ram and I know I measured short. I could probably get 6.5 inches out of it. But honestly I’m probably better off at the 6 inches so that I’m not putting pressure on my pump, as well as not binding those U joints up even more. I’d love more steering angle though…
