This is a good video and detailed guide, thank you. I just would like to ask you, as a beginner in blender, how would I remove an irregular section from a very irregular shaped object? I am want to work with a human brain model (already have it), and I would like to remove a section to show details of different anatomical parts.

Definitely can be done, but not easy to explain here!

You could Select all faces of the section you want to remove, and press P -> selection, to move the selected faces to a new object. To select you can select the center most vertice of the object, and press CTRL+(numpad +), to expand the selction. Or you could make a boolean object, and use that to cut into the brain object.

I have a problem where the part has Ben cut and shows as 2 half's but in my slicer software they move as one piece instead of being 2 separate ones. One is floating above the other and I can't figure it out
