Subtle, but important things you might miss: 1. Make sure you change the color of the refraction to be 1, not the 0.906 value that blender has as default. 2. 0:40 have high light bounces reply to this with anything else you notice people might miss

This BH shader relies completely on your light path bounces setting, specifically less than the 256 setting in the video. Change that setting to max [1024], and your BH becomes an anti-BH. Kinda interesting.

Thank you for the great video. I wanted to point out, that the black hole you are creating here is more akin to a non rotating black hole, wheras the interstellar black hole is a rotating Kerr black hole, which looks a bit different on the sides.

If the IOR doesn't behave as it should, like all you see is a faint refraction and not the black whole effect, don't worry it will be fixed once you plug the Power node into the color input of the Refraction BSDF node. Don't know why this happens. Using a GTX 1080 Ti with blender 3+.

Do you know how to achieve this 'center ball/Lensing' material using Arnold? because I tried two different methods, one just plugging the facing data into IOR and not copying the center sphere, and I got a similar result, but the width of the ring becomes very narrow where the left and right sides of the ring begin to "bend" upward. The second method is copying the same logic of this video but not working
