This is cool, thanks! If anyone's having trouble getting the right glow, there's a few things I found that helped: - Bloom needs to be on in the render panel (looks like a camera). This is what makes the ball look like it's glowing, otherwise it's just a flat orange circle - the glow is what makes it look bright, it's an optical effect innit? - The bloom settings are important - the Radius is how big the glow is, how much it bleeds into the sky. Intensity is how powerful the glow is, you might want to crank this. - Threshold is how bright stuff needs to be before it glows - you can turn this up to create contrast and make the sun look like it's glowing more than everything else, which makes it look brighter. You're not actually making the pixels brighter remember, it's a trick, so that contrast is what makes things pop. The knee slider gives you a little more control and softens the transition, kinda smooths the glow a bit - The strength setting in your Emission shader is what tells the renderer how bright the light is (which feeds into the bloom and pushes it over the Threshold setting if you're using that. Don't worry about matching the strength setting in the video, that depends on other settings and I can't replicate it personally. Just push it up until it looks right, without going too white - The sky texture matters! It's that contrast thing again, and if it's too light the glow won't really be visible. You can use the HSV node to darken it (value) and control how colourful it is (saturation), and also move it around until you find a good part of the sky. I guess this is part of what knowing what a "good" HDRI to pick is. (Also the sky is lighting the scene and brightening everything) - Lowering the roughness on the plane makes it reflective, which gives you the cool sun reflections and adds to the glowy effect. But if you made the flat middle area too bumpy, a lot of the faces will be angled away from it, so you won't get as many reflections. Screen Space Reflections needs to be turned on in the Render panel too you really gotta play around with it, but here's my Bloom settings if it helps as a start point: Threshold: 0.449 Knee: 0 Radius: 6.309 Color: white Intensity: 0.084 Clamp: 0 like I said this is gonna depend on your Emissions shader strengths too, the Value (brightness) of those colours, the sky brightness, all that, so play around until it's looking good!

Great tutorial for sure. However, maybe you can try explaining the actions you're implementing instead of saying things like, "Do this, type 5, click this button." For example, you can try explaining things like this, "I'll use proportional editing to move up this vertex along with the neighboring ones, use scroll wheel to adjust how large of an area you want to cover." Clarity would help beginners understand the concepts and do it in their own way without copying what you do. Again, I do not intend to discredit your methods of teaching, but only want to give you a feedback. Keep more tutorials coming!

Just few seconds of explanation of why he's doing it, and how he's planning to get it done would suffice, instead of giving exact steps on what to do. Most people here are not beginners, but users who're willing to get clarified. Here's the thing, people aren't here to get mini-tutorials on all the tools he used. It's just that he can explain his methods of making whatever he made in this video. Most people aren't here for exact steps like he's giving, but for understanding his way of doing it.

@@vivaellipsis Regarding your point related to the fact that content creators are pressurized to balance the length of their content, I must say that an appropriate ratio of entertainment, clarity, conciseness, etc can keep people watching and enjoying even an hour long tutorial. With an increasing number of competitors amongst content creators, I must say that they are indeed pressurized more than ever before. @@PyroDraco91 plz explain this more. scroll where??
@PyroDraco914 жыл бұрын
@@zygo169 if you clicked on the points you like to change and choose the tool he did, and pull the hills up. During this you can scroll with your mouseweel. It will start to jiggle everything, but if you keep scrolling UP, you will soon see a white-outlined circle.. that's the indicators of how much you distort the area around your chosen dots. The circle needs to be a lot smaller

Just a quick suggestion. In the compositor add a sunbeam node in and tinker with the settings, it should give an almost overexposed beam look. Great tutorial
@veggiet20094 жыл бұрын
Really cool stuff! However quick question: Why did you choose an HDR environment map, when you could use a gradient to achieve that stylized look? Also you could mix gradient backgrounds to add an immovable orange sun in the materials settings rather than add a mesh?
@EitherOr35 жыл бұрын
Easy, straightforward tutorial. I learned a lot about 2.8 and was able to use past experience to tweak the render exactly how I wanted. I think you should try explaining why you’re changing certain settings, as that makes things easier to remember for beginners. Other than that, great video =)

hey, I'm new to blender and I can't get your same result. The main color of the mountains is black and I don't know how to fix it.

I fixed that problem, I didn't have Bloom checked. However, using the same hdr I get a slightly lighter and less saturated result. What can I do?
