Convert VISIO floorplan to VRML 2. I used VBA to save the floorplan to a 3d vrml 2 file, ready to render.

good idea to convert to VRML 2. let me try it too.

@@blenderian.3d I converted the VISIO floorplan diagram to XML, then into VRML, and read the VRML back into XML and then back to the VISIO floorplan, in a way that I don't lose the details I may make to the VRML like colours and new walls, doors & windows. I figured the XML was the best format for porting between apps.

Is there a way to import CAD Software files (DWG / IFC) instead of eyeballing the walls on top of a jpg img? its nice to look at but not accurate like CAD, unless accuracy is not needed and all you want is a general image.

Right, Blender is mainly for visual creation and animation. Most of CG work are not expected the accuracy like CAD, as CAD is mainly used for engineering and for analysis. I don't have DWG for testing how import into Blender, but we can use interchange file format, like as DXF that Blender can support. Here is the list that file format can import in Blender, cgian.com/2023/08/blender-file-format-supported Have a look if this helps.

Thanks for the effort, but it shouldn't be so difficult to make tools CADlike. I mean you click a point, move mouse to a direction and enter distance than click. Now you have a line. Keep clicking and now you have a plane. Extrude it etc. If the developers add Blender a sketchup-like interface I'll switch to it momentarily.

I am not Sketchup users. I tried Sketchup long time ago when it was free version. But I think if doing architecture or interior design, sketch-up is more supportive. For architecture or interior design, Blender is still under-developing. I am just trying when Blender can do at the moment.
