life hack: Install the addon images to planes. add in loop cuts (control R), and use knife tool (k) to trace the shape of the strand. It's a faster way to make the strand models and gets them textured directly. It's also a good idea to bunch the strand images together into a single texture to save video ram.

I'm looking to make a cinematic car scene in the mountains or the countryside, most of it at high speed but some at slower speed. Are the assets in your pack light enough to make a large scene, for long cuts or far-away shots? I know it says good for scattering, but I tried Biome Reader before finding this and the grass levels immediately bog my machine down (12900kf, 3080ti, 32gb). Any tips you have for making a light but realistic background for this would be greatly appreciated. I've looked a little at 2D for the distant meshes, but I'd like some good looking stuff for slower close-ups. Thanks for everything you do, I think I'm going to grab the pack just because!

very useful! One question though, is there any way to unwrap the plane so that you have to do less UV editing? After projecting from view, I always wind up spending 20 minutes at least editing the UV's so the textures look right.

@CGGeek Can I use blender for photorealistic Archviz or I am better of with 3ds max and corona in terms of speed needed to acheive photorealism?
@sr1488 Жыл бұрын
Hello, I am an archviz artist and the reality is you can use whatever. HOWEVER max is significantly faster to get going with archviz considering the archviz assets available are pretty much always set up for max and corona/vray. That being said I use redshift because I prefer the render speed and I have a lot of conversion scripts set up so it's not too bad. The big issue you will run into is scene optimization, blender kind of falls apart at larger scenes and max can handle really massive scenes with no problem. That + how many good archviz tools are made specifically for max makes it much more streamlined. But if you only have access to blender you should still get into it that way, you will still be able to make really good projects- just harder to expand your operation if that makes sense.

Good tutorial.But in nature every grass mesh will have different color hue ,saturation and brightness wich you can randomize by object id node to get same result .So your grass will be more realistic by this way and not so flatish green carpet ))) Just search some tutorial "How to randomize mesh color of multiple object by object info"

to optimise this you really should be heading into a photo editing software, aligning all of these grass blades together on one 1028x1028 canvas, just by cropping out the useless white background. you can then have all the UV's within 1 grid, 1 texture and saving you a hell of a lot of texture space.
