Very well explained, thank you. The only thing I wish had been demo’ed is how to work with a mirrored copy once the geometry was settled, e.g. how to separate the deformed cube in the beginning from the original in order to move it independently or to apply a different material. A real world application would be how to model left and right-handed guitars with different finishes and locations in a room.

Cool cool cool.. How do I add the verticies to the mirrord image. Say, we are making a human. I mirrored all. Now we need feet. Or 1 side doesnt have an ear. Or, anything isnt symmetrical. (I'm using x and y... How do I make them all an object. Not a mirror

Once you no longer want things to Mirror, then you click on "Apply" in the Mirror Modifier dropdown menu. The changes up to that point are applied, but new edits will no longer mirror.
