hi so im using blender 4.0, what could i be doing wrong? the alpha blend only works just a few seconds when i try to connect the node to the alpha. but when i add the haircard texture and adjusted the size/position, the alpha blend doesnt work anymore, it shows the hair texture but with black background.

I had same issue, make sure you havent linked alpha from image to bsdf, link color to alpha

So what's the secret to making the hair cards look good like yours? I have all kinds of weird shadows in mine that you don't seem to have, both in cycles/Eevee and in preview material. Is it just a practice thing?

İf some cards overlap it could look a bit glitchy sometimes. I still getting some issue about light for hair cards. I think when making hair cards with image, The frequency of hair creation may also support this. I wanna make my own hair cards too. When i got it i will make video with details again 💜

you can convert it with convert to mesh option friend. But dont forget the reduce

I think it has to be with something called Culling, or Outside only

When you convert your curve to mesh it's topology become good. But if you want to simple way you can unwrap with smart uv project 💜
