if you want to use gradient after texture , add a baking node before displacement node, it will work

Holy fuck what a good advice, thanks!

hmm, but is it that diferent than to use a displacement map in default cycles? yes its cool, but not sure if worth the time learning octane...

Yes, mate, it's totally worth it. In Cycles, to use displacement you have to subdivide the model, in Octane you don't have to. On the other hand, Octane is an unbiased render engine, unlike cycles, which guarantees more realistic renders. It also has many more settings to configure, which gives more control if you want to have a more stylized result.

@@EgoMotionCG any videos/ tutorials in mind i should watch to dive into it correctly? if its just like an other compositor system i think i could learn it relativly fast... r there any big downsides? like its not avaiabl for 4.1 i think...

@@bUildYT The tutorials from Lino Grandi (Otoy and Octane artist) are the best. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqqak594ZcpqbpY kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6PCi4ppncqLmbc You can also subscribe to my channel (if you are not already subscribed), here I will be sharing what I know about Octane, I've been learning it for a year now. In general lines it is very similar to cycles, only that the nodes have other names, but it is almost the same thing.

@@EgoMotionCG would u say octane is faster in rendering than cycles?

What if I had a displacement texture thats higher than 8192x8192 is it possible to override the Level of detail and go higher with a custom resolution input?
@EgoMotionCG3 ай бұрын
That's a very good question, as far as I understand that is not possible in the Blender version of Octane. It may be possible in the Cinema 4D version of Octane.
