You’re welcome! Hopefully everything makes sense.

I'm curious why you bother changing the image density (DPI) when you are not planning to physically print these images? I must admit that I'm old enough to have developed muscle memory to do the same thing, but I learned to stop a while back when I realised - it doesn't affect Blender one bit 😄

Not sure I know what you mean. Image resolution changes project file size when transferring your project from one place to another. That alone is reason enough to reduce the size of an image via DPI and the pixel size to make sure you are being efficient with your project size footprint. Not sure I agree with you that dpi doesn’t effect Blender. DPI and pixel size does change the size of an image file and when loading a lot of textures, reducing the size of the file is important.

@@djtutorialscgi For the same file format, *only* the number of pixels has any effect on the file size and memory required. The DPI measurement is solely designed to tell the printer how big (in inches) to scale each pixel, if you were to print it onto paper (larger values will make the image appear smaller). Some apps like Word may also draw the image correspondingly larger or smaller, because they replicate what the printer will do. But a 1920x1080 pixel image will take exactly the same number of bytes in memory, and have the same amount of detail, if saved at 300 DPI as it will at 96 or 72 or any other value. But don't take my word for it - try it and see.

@@djtutorialscgi I think the confusion comes from the overloaded term "resolution". There are two resolutions here: image file resolution being the number of pixels stored in the file - this *will* affect file size, and display (or print) resolution - this is just a scaling factor and does not affect the file size. Unfortunately the software does not do a great job at differentiating these terms.
