A great series of tutorials which are easy to follow and put topology and subdivision into context. Really clean, beautiful modelling.

Thanks for these great tips! My particular favourite is the 'D = Modifier Menu'! I'm wondering if you know about 'shift + S' for the cursor to selected and more. It brings up a wheel with all the snap options. For me it's even more intuitive than having these on a potentially long quick menu. Also pressing 'M' for merge by distance. I can't see that you get quicker than this. hehe. Suberb content, Ian. Keep 'em coming! :)

Great series of videos, one more subscriber !!! I was just wondering : where has the #1 video of this playlist gone (the one you mention at the beginning) ? No way to find it on your channel...

My plan was to make #1 when it was all finished with a fancy montage of good bits from all the videos! I've not finished them yet so number 1 does not exist. Sorry

the add modifier shortcut was really useful now in blender version 4, they hid the modifiers behind another click now for some reason.

Great video! How do you choose which monitor to is best for blender use? I am looking at a 4k 27 inch and wondering how well it will work. Is it just a case of keeping the receipt in case it doesn't work well?
@ianmcglasham2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tim. 4k is a great resolution for 3D but the aspect ratio is in many ways more important. Try to find a monitor with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It makes a huge difference.

i like your tutorials, but "merge by distance" is a bit quicker by pressing M instead first tapping Q for quick menu and then searching the menu entry ;)

"Cursor to selected' can also be found with shift-s and a quick down movement with the mouse before releasing the keys. With practice it takes a fraction of a second. Does adding it to the quick favourites have any advantages over the shift-s way?
@ianmcglasham2 жыл бұрын
Hello again Tim. Both cursor to selected and selection to cursor are used so often that i find it quicker to have my commomly selected tasks just one keypress away. There are simple shortcuts for almost everything in blender but having the ones you use all the itme under one key makes working very fluid. I keep my thimb on the shift key and my middle finger on the 'q' key. I never have to look down when performing my common tasks and that can save a lot of time.

Rendering using both CPU and GPU can actually slow down your renders. Use GPU alone. Give it a try,
