Blender: train tutorial

See how to make a simple train with boxes moving on a looping rails. All You need is a circle (curve), a cube and a rail segment.

Remember that cube and rail segment must be located at same place as circle (path) in the object mode.

The gap in the track can at the end can be filled automatically. Don't apply the modifiers on the track segment but leave them active. Change array modifier type to "fit curve", and pick the path used for the track. Go to bezier settings for the path, under shape settings check the boxes for "stretch" and "bounds clamp". Doing that and leaving the modifiers active instead of as applied geometry will also mean you can go back and edit the path for the track after it's initially setup and that track will automatically adjust to fill the path no matter what.

go to graph editor, find interpolation mode and click on constant instead of bezier

How to turn or modify the curve into a dope sheet? that when I delete the curve, you no longer need it. Because when I do a train erase or curve animation in animation mode it doesn't work anymore. help?

Not really. 'Evaluation time' says how many times locomotive make a circle. If Evaluation = Frames locomotive make one full circle. If Evaluation = half count of Frames then locomotive will make half circle. If Evaluation = 2xFrames train will make two full circles.

add a boolean "difference" object to carve away from the track, and make it not render in the final that way there will be a hole where the object is that the train can jump over

We don't see what you click on keyboard. :( I don't see how you select together cube, when you create track.

I'm not sure what do You need (write the time of movie). 02:25 rail segment is a single mesh with 3 cubes inside. To select all cubes just press A-key. To move something press G, to rotate R, scale - S. To move only up or down press G and Z (or X/Y if You want move object along other axis). Works with rotation and scale. In new tutorials I turned on showing keys.

BlenderShortTests One more question at the end. What puzzles me is some mesh behavior in edit mode. For example, if I add a gear mesh and want to remove all unnecessary edges from the top and bottom side, it tells me - once I try to remove one of the last two edges - that's not possible. I always got an invalid boundary region error. But I'm sure it should be possible to have flat faces in all shapes without any subdividing edge! Or am I wrong with this? The reason I need this is because I want to bevel a single face. Would you please explain this to me?
