Sorry this one is a bit long there was quite a lot to cover! The update is massive! Things have fundamentally changed and I would recommend anyone using BlenderBim upgrade to 230506. I'll try keep these around 30mins or less, Im not a fan of overly long videos

thanks for the video there are many out there far longer than one hour and, once you put timestamps in the description, nobody is going to complain about it 😉, please keep it up!

Thanks for doing these updates IfcArchitect. It's really helpful to see it underneath the text update by Dion. Might be worth working with Dion for the next update to embed your videos underneath as they work hand in hand together! Keep up the good work!

Nice demo. For those wanting the include/exclude function that works with status filtering (Chp: Include / exclude view sync) here it is: .IfcElement[r"Pset_.*Common"."Status"="NEW"]

Thank you for this video with the demonstration of many details. But I have to look several times to understand everything well. Because there are so many new features in the current version. This proves that BlenderBIM is integrating with many functions, in my opinion, it starts to be ahead of other BIM..

Just a minor remark: the video title has wrong, old date: 23.03.04. Might make some people think it's an old video :) But thank you for your extensive overview! Waiting (im)patiently for the custom beam profile tutorial :D There is a tutorial somewhere on OSArch forum, I followed it, but failed miserably. It has no commentary. I would post link, but youtube won't let me :(

Awêh! Thank you so much for your efforts🙏🏽✨ I'm really excited about where this project is heading. I know it's still early days, but the speed & consistency of its development is reassuring and shows how many folx are yearning for a solid FOSS CAD solution. How far are we from seeing a basic example of a complete BBIM workflow from a 2D floorplan to fully rendered 3D model with detailed lighting & materials? I'm curios about the unique features within the process that sets BBIM apart from the existing proprietary offerings. ...Also, are there any other channels or websites u can share (beyond those listed in info) that unpack & explore other aspects of BBIM?

Aweh @QuadMix ! Those ones in the description are probably the best, check out the channels in my channels page: www.youtube.com/@IfcArchitect/channels @BIMvoice has good in depth tutorials and conversations @sigmadimensions also does excellent tutorials @UHStudio is great for any Blender Design related ideas @Erindale is a wizard with Geometry nodes & Sverchok (equivalent of grasshopper in Blender) Those are the channels I'd reccomend you check out Otherwise most of the info I know comes from the OSArch community: community.osarch.org/discussions Hope that helps bru! If you've got specific requests just pop them here and I'll try incorporate them into Videos, If you are South African I'll mention the workflow you mention here, 2d floorplan to 3d rendered model I go over in my free overview course: www.cpdcentral.co.za/courses/2D-3D-modelling-software-workshop-open-mic It will also be posted here on youtube after the 12th so you can watch it then aswell.

thanks x the video, however I would like to ask 2 unclear things: 1) how to return to the display of doors and windows in 3D after you have set a floor plan... Do I have any plan views of doors and windows? and only plans views ! 2) how to bring a wall right under a sloping roof... just to coincide with the soffit of the roof itself ... ?
@IfcArchitect
@IfcArchitect Жыл бұрын
Hey Creative, 1.) In Drawings, you can click on the "Activate model" button next to the 'activate drawing' button, and it will return the full 3d model representation 2.) That functionality is not working right at the moment, I will get back to you as soon as it does! Hope that helps

Thank you for your videos! Could you make a video about how to properly use the snapping features of Blender? Something for people coming from AutoCAD and Revit. Blender has lots of snapping options, but just moving anything with a reference point, and moving to a different place with a different reference point seems an impossible task
@IfcArchitect
@IfcArchitect Жыл бұрын
I will definitely make a video about snapping I completely understand it's a very different world

i don't understand : My first PC prints views well in the web browser while the second PC (same configuration blender 3.4.1 and BlenderBIM 06/05/23 and same file... ) does not print views in the browser ; It provides a piton error and does not print drawings in the browser.... I just don't understand!?
@IfcArchitect
@IfcArchitect Жыл бұрын
Hey @creativo, It sounds to me like you aren't copying the drawing file with the ifc, try copy the folders + the ifc across to the other pc and see if that works. If would it be possible to share the file on the OSArch community, and others including myself can assist to see what the issue is? You can post here: community.osarch.org/discussion/1447/blenderbim-tutorial-floorplan-update-in-20mins-blenderbim-23-04-17#latest

if possible : how to change text format in dimensions ? not only in text annotation .... wich is very clear and useful....
@IfcArchitect
@IfcArchitect Жыл бұрын
Hi creativo, unfortunately you need to edit the CSS file at present to change the text in dimensions, it isn't quite as user friendly but completely possible! I briefly show how to edit the CSS in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/moG6gpWglsqir9E In the CSS you will find a line with a font referenced, and sizes next to it, it changes the text across the project

I have a general question. WHen trying to test out the IFC GIT functionality. I get a error code in this section saying "Git is not installed". Is there a local bug in my blender as i can not access the same panal, with the same information as you have? As i understood it, this feature was already installed with this realease, or did i missunderstand?
@IfcArchitect
@IfcArchitect Жыл бұрын
Hi Ole it is slightly more complicated that, you still need to install git aswell, as I mentioned in the video I will be making a dedicated tutorial on how to install it but you can find written instructions here: community.osarch.org/discussion/1394/

@@IfcArchitect After studying the link with the video on the git addon, i have come to learn that is not the functionality i have been looking for. If i can kindly explain, i work as a consultant i receive IFC files (with variuse of quality made from Revit i belive) and have to manually remodel any changes an architect have made into my own software. I have learned so far that the ifc diff tool is the correct analytical tool i have to use. Unfortunately, it seems when trying to use this i am not able to limit the changes i am in need to visualise between V.1 ifc and V.2 ifc. Is there any chance you could in the future also make a tutorial on how to use this tool? I will in the mean time play around with it to see if it comes natural for me how the filtering system work by trying to isolate changes to windows and facade wall changes.

Hi @@OleMariusSvendsen Yes I will be doing a tutorial on this tool and it can handle versioning and branchs including design versions like you have mentioned but I will go into detail in a tutorial and you can see whether it fits your needs

You can use Geometry nodes to create geometry, apply the node and then classify the result as an ifc element.
