Man you have absolutely changed my golfing life with your videos. I’ve always struggled with being steep and relying on the arms and timing. Some days were great and I could get to the low 80s other days were horrible high 90s. I’ve been doing this map out drill for a week and I’ve never been more consistent. I’ve gained about 10 yards per club and I’m hitting it straight or a nice little draw. Idk how you don’t have more subscribers because the way lay out the swing is genius.

Can I do this drill with driver?Since the setup and ball position are different. Thanks

Thank You Larry! Great video! I’ve been practicing it every day and I love the feeling. Turn turn turn turn is working! Here is a problem though (and an idea for the next video perhaps?) So when I practice with 7i I hit 130m with a great contact and ball flight (20% shorter than normal). But how do you progress to hit it full speed? As soon as I try it, I feel like I’m back to throwing the club. Even if I turn faster, I do not hit further - timing gets out of sync and I hit to the right. Can you create a video for speed progression after the map out drill ?

This would be my suggestion for club head speed: Read Ernest Jones 'Swing into Golf', Percy Boomer 'On Leaning Golf'. You may ask: Why? Ernest Jones states that the highest club head speed is reached, when you feel a swing of the club head without applying ANY leverage to the grip, this means you only want the centrifugal force along the axis of the shaft. Other components (e.g. the leverage) that you might apply reduce the energy available for the angular velocity of the club head. (can also be compared to the spoke of a big wheel; fully explained in the book.) Percy Boomer teaches that you do not play golf with your arms. Everything above the waist is passive in his teaching. Thus you use your lower body and your core. (fully explained in that book) Doing this, your upper body will be able to swing the club head as expressed by Ernest Jones. Swing is swing = max efficiency, leverage is seesaw = loss of potential for club head speed.

When you unhinge, it’s the wrist angle right? But keep the left hand bowed right?

releasing wrist angle but lead wrist stays flat =)

@@LarryCheungGolf i tried this drill yesterday in the range… worked wonderfully! Effortless swing now… and very much repeatable since less moving parts and swing thoughts… but still need to work this to the short and half swings though… this drill is priceless Larry!!!

That 'casting' word (which you thankfully avoid in this video) has been so detrimental for people watching golf instruction on KZbin. This is a good video that clears that up.

You will come later about how to use your wrists more efficiently?

What are your thoughts on this video? It basically highlights the exact opposite, where the lead arm fires off the chest… is it just a a different type of swing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/anfPnap6fbx6rs0

At the range I run thru 10 or so impact drills before making full swings -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5ybdIprbZmgoLc it's very close to what you show but I like how you've simplified it even more.

easily one of the best tutorial on KZbin. I really like how your show the down the line and front. I am struggling with the release, and would love to the left side of your swing so I can use as model to fix my release. I know you have a video on it, I'm hoping you can show your left side of your swing in future videos. Thanks Larry!

I would say that there is indeed a feeling of release, but is there an actual release in a true swing? If you were able to complete a full 360 circular swing - where would you release? It would seem to me that we would 'release' the entire time, starting from the reverse at the top, gradually and continuously adding speed, 'releasing' stored up energy into energy of motion. We add to this the upward 'jump' leading into impact, which increases the force vector in the direction of the axis of the shaft and thus maximizes club head speed, thus adding more feeling of 'release' in the fingers. Nothing releases in the swing that I am trying to master, the swing simply swings. The basic thought is not to manipulate the club at all, neither with the arms nor with the hands, what happens above the waist is entirely dictated by what happens below the waist. The club head is passively moving as dictated by its inertia etc. etc. The wrists are entirely passive - therefor they must release. Maybe you are trying to 'help' your swing with your arms or hands? That is entirely counterproductive - to the degree that you apply leverage, you hinder your swing and thus your club head speed. My sources: Ernest Jones 'Swing into Golf', Percy Boomer 'On Leaning Golf'.
