Hello, If you speak with Vitamix for product reviews, can you ask them to create a spiralizer for A3500 series?

Last year I got a countertop ice machine. What a difference! The thing I noticed most is the ice isn’t as dense. Making the process faster and smoother.

No more freezer tray ice cubes for me, I use a Frigidaire portable ice maker that I keep near my VitaMix & it makes those great sized ice cubes like Henry mentioned

Great video (as usual). Being a big fan of frozen fruit, I rarely use ice in smoothies and when I do, it's usually frozen coconut water or various "milks" (either dairy or plant). I use trays that make smaller (but not small) cubes. 😁

Yes and creating flavored ice cubes is always a great idea. It's in one of my videos where I make frozen iced tea, I brewed the tea and made frozen tea ice cubes so there's no loss in flavor during blending. Great to see you as always! 😍

This was very helpful, thank you for making a video about proper ice to use. I notice sometimes certain places, smoothie comes out more frosty, almost like a slurpee. I like it this way, but when I add too much ice at home, it gets too frozen and stops blending. How much ice should I be using you think? One of my favs is usually: 1 frozen banana, 1cup frozen strawberries, 2 cups oat milk, 2tbsp oats, seeds, 2 tbsp PB, 2tbsp almonds. 1 cup homemade ice I like it on the frosty side like I mentioned, but half the time I get air pockets etc. I use smoothie preset on a3500 with steel container. Am I using bad ratio? Just discovered you, very helpful content! Thank you so much for your time!
@BlendingWithHenry
@BlendingWithHenry 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely 1/2 cup of ice maximum especially since much of your ingredients are frozen. 1/2 cup should render you a nice frosty texture, but like in the video use small ice, not large ice cubes. I would also try and use the manual speed dial. Often the presets are a hit or miss since they have no idea what you are actually blending. There's no artificial intelligence built in so the smoothie preset is optimized for certain recipes and it takes practice to make the perfect smoothie with that preset. If you do use the manual control start on speed 1 and slowly increase to the highest speed. Should be complete in 40-50 seconds. Now while this doesn't necessarily use any ice in this video you might want to check out my video for How to Make the Perfect Fruit smoothie. It will at least give you some ideas on liquid to frozen ratio. See the following link and thank you so much for discovering my channel. Exactly how large are these smaller ice cubes? Where I live, the store bought cubes are larger than the ones I make in my freezer with trays that look like the ones you show.
@BlendingWithHenry
@BlendingWithHenry 2 жыл бұрын
If you've had a Starbucks ice coffee the ice chunks in the video are very close to the same as those. At the end of the video I showed the ice chunks being about the same size as the frozen fruit you buy in stores. I've never seen store-bought ice at any store bigger than the ones made from ice cube trays. Most grocery stores sell the smaller ice chunks.

I thought you always have to turn the speed to the maximum to avoid overheating?
@BlendingWithHenry
@BlendingWithHenry Жыл бұрын
It's only necessary for heavy blends to turn it up. Ice shatters easily so it doesn't need full speed.

How about if I start out with the crushed ice that comes out of my freezer through the door function? Or how about if I used ice trays that held smaller ice cubes? Would that help? I bet it would and I wouldn't be paying a store for frozen water and I could make a smoothie at my convenience not when I remembered to pick it up at the grocery store. But thanks for your video it's eye-opening
@BlendingWithHenry
@BlendingWithHenry 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbi! Crushed ice is fine. Some smoothie shops actually use crushed ice but it might dissolve too quickly based on your recipe and you may end up with a more watered down drink. Store-bought ice is the most ideal size but like you mentioned that you have ice trays that can make small ice cubes that would be fine. Just make sure the ice they create matches the size of your ingredients like I showed at the end of the video. Thanks so much for watching. Please LIKE and subscribe if you haven't as of yet? 😍👨🏾‍🍳

So have you tried using Ice from a home icemaker or Refrigerator. ice maker? Which is smaller. Be nice to see your results. I don't know to many people that is going out to by a bag of ice for smoothies only.

Hi Dwayne. I do not have an ice maker in my refrigerator, and if I did I would not go through the trouble of recording a whole new video for that. This video was to give my viewers an idea on the best type of ice to use. I benefit nothing from them buying the ice I recommended. I've been buying bags of ice for many years for making smoothies. You can see that in all of my videos. People buy bags of frozen fruit to make smoothies. Not sure why you would feel that people wouldn't buy bags of ice but would in fact spend the money on a Home Ice Maker? That's something of your own decision. Doesn't mean others wouldn't. The bag of ice shown in the video is under $2 USD and can be used for many things.

I don't think the ice cubes stay large very long, so they don't need to stay at a lower speed the whole time just for an initial processing.

How can you overblend a smoothie?
@BlendingWithHenry
@BlendingWithHenry 2 жыл бұрын
Same as you can over-mix a cheesecake recipe. Whipping in too much air will make the smoothie overly light and airy rather than rich and dense like it should be.
