Ya know I am 41 years a priest and I can remember the date and time of my ordination. I can remember my first mass. :) There are numerous holy ones in our country who are blessed and canonized. His life is amazing but he is one of many. Fr Augustine Tolton is the first male native born saint in the US. He was born into slavery. With the help of religious he went from illiterate to top of his class in Rome. He established the first Black Catholic parish in the US.

Fr. Tolton is not canonized or beatified yet. He is Blessed.

It is good to see Father Matt, miss him at Assumption. Are there any updates on Father Richard or his mom? Prayers are being said daily for them.

We visited last year - it’s amazing. I was in the process of converting to Catholicism and it helped me understand the true devotion to the faith. So inspirational!

I'll be moving to OK soon, and saw a relic of Bl Stanely in Tulsa. There doesn't appear to be a large catholic presence in the SE part of the state, where I'll be, but I'm so happy to know Bl. Stanley and have him in my saint squad now!

There are a lot of Baptists in the SE part of the state. I moved from California to the SE part of OK in the Ouachita Mountains where I bought a ranch. It is beautiful there, absolutely beautiful. My land has mountains, pine trees, a large running creek with waterfalls, and more animals than I can count. I recently took a job flying in Australia so I had to make the move, the commute was killing me lol but I've still got my land. You'll love it in that area. It is truly God's country just like Blake Shelton says.

Unfortunately my comment has to do with a video episode from a year ago that I just watched today. Rich was describing a painting he gave away and wished he hadn’t. It depicted Mary Magdalene with John the Beloved who is guiding Mother Mary away from the Crucifixion. Fr Rich said he’s not been able to find it again. I googled my search solely based on his description. I can’t figure out how to add a pic so all I can do is tell you the two names of the artists that may have painted it. One is a Matthew Grunewald and the other is Rogier van der Wetden. I hope this helps. Perhaps you can find your beloved print/ image! Love and appreciate your show! Been listening for a year or more and trying to catch up on all the episodes from oldest to newest. Take care, Ryan, Ryan and Fr. God bless.

That's cool. I'm not from Oklahoma but my mother is from a small German Catholic farming community in North Idaho that sounds really similar to what they are describing. I feel like small town farm Catholics have a completely different faith experience than the more typical east coast Catholics.

Please do a show about Blessed Father Solanus Casey- also potentially the first American born male saint. I am certain that I was cured through his intercession, but don't have the medical documentation to present it. He has always been there for me!

I have two churches. I have educated my people on the host of peoples who are servants of God, Venerable, Blessed, and Saints. I just come to know of Father and yes I was amazed. Btw. Fr Tolton is Servant of God. LOL

Thank you for bringing good Catholic content on KZbin. It's insightful and at times entertaining. One question: why has this show totally ignored the lives, experiences, and contributions of African-American Catholics? The Catholic Talk Show has neglected the Black Catholic experience. It would be ideal if you can recognize the community and help to stop marginalizing who we are and what we have contributed to the U.S. Catholic history
