Priests have had affairs with men and women, both are wrong but chastity has to be the goal. Today priests, parish priests are very busy but some say lonely. You can be lonely in a crowd and with paperwork up to your ears. I wonder how well the seminary prepares you for that. I knew an older priest, 60 maybe who sent out emails and notes to fellow priests to have lunch, use a day off from mass etc and out of over 20, got maybe 2 returns. Busy, not interested, IDK. You need friendships. The dinner over a parishioners house is not the same as a confidante, a person to go on a hike with or lunch.

Jesus did say that some make themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of God. He is not speaking literally. I believe this refers to someone making the decision to be celibate and chaste in order to devote himself entirely to the service of God's Kingdom. This requires a tremendous amount of Grace. I don't recall hearing much mention of Grace in this discussion. The power of God's Grace is unfathomable. Prayer, fasting, and the Sacraments -- sources of Grace. A real desire for holiness. The priesthood is the highest calling on earth, in my opinion. When I watch the priest recess out of church after Mass, I get a feeling in my heart, a welling up of gratitude and awe. That man brought me Jesus. Nobody on earth but a Roman Catholic priest can say the words of Consecration and bring Jesus down from heaven. This might not be theologically well expressed, but it's how I see it. I'm a convert from Judaism and so grateful to be Catholic. I would say that almost every priest I've met in over 30 years of Daily Mass has been holy, devout, self-sacrificing, and kind-hearted. The priesthood is a daily martyrdom. I don't know where all these terrible priests are that you're talking about; I haven't met them. Pray for our priests, make sacrifices, pray for vocations. Without our priests, we are lost.

Every priest deserves respect because of their office and bc they are all made in the image of God but as a 31 year old that tries to be very involved in my local parishes I have, in my opinion, met not so great priests. Priests are men and like all of us men they are not all perfect. We had a Hispanic priest who by his mannerisms we could see he was maybe one of these priests being talked about in the video and he did end up falling into some kind of scandal and was removed from the parish. Nice priest and I’m sure he is very devout but like we all do, he fell to his sin. Fortunately it was not with a minor but with an adult.
@theyliveyousleep89655 ай бұрын
@@in_defense_of_the_church homosexuality is 💯 contrary to the very foundation of the Catholic Faith. Doesn’t matter if the priest is nice and well-meaning. Entering the priesthood and nunnery requires an oath of poverty, chastity and obedience. Any kind of mortal sin is contrary to these oaths. Being a gambler or thief = lack of poverty. Being a porn actor, porn addict or homosexual = lack of chastity. Ignoring the oaths to live however they want = lack of obedience. A devout person is above worldly affairs & personal desires…and puts God first in their life. So a devout priest would not fall to sexual scandal. Their hearts are with the sinner and eyes focused on God and His gift of redemption for us, a place to worship and receive Him in the Holy Eucharist. His church needs to be focused on Christ, love. Christ’s Priest need to be men of the cloth without any hidden sin’s that could be potentially danger to the Priest, Mother Church(the laity). On March 26th 2022, just past midnight, I was restless in bed, my limbs became numb & tingly, my chest became tight, & my heart felt like it was being crushed. So I sang out to God and Jesus, about my pain, my feelings, my faults and my inabilities. As I sang, I began to feel like a river, & a hand was on my back, it's fingers where skimming the surface of the waters, separating the waters, causing ripples through my body. Then the hand reached inside my chest, lit my heart on fire, & the heat moved like waves through my body. When I was done singing, all the pain was gone, & I looked at the clock, it was past 1am, I had sang near an hour. Then the voice of my guardian angel called my name from above, & there was a hymn of energy in the air, the same hymn I hear in my dreams of God. Hallelujah to the Lord my God for healing my heart! Hallelujah for His son Jesus for saving my soul! Hallelujah for every day! Hallelujah for every breath! The Lord is Faithful and true! It does not surprise me that Pope Francis continues to be criticized when, in fact, he has been clear that, as sinners, all are welcome to come before God. The challenge with any identity issues is that individuals tend to weaponize their victimology.
@theyliveyousleep89655 ай бұрын
Yes, all sinners are welcome to come before God. But the whole point is for those sinners to stop sinning, to. choose holiness and to change their lives. Most Protestant denominations leave that last part out and cry out to just “come as you are!” without ever making changes to their lives according to God’s plans for us.

I was wondering if anyone was ever going to address the “good old boys club”. I struggle with your description that if you have deep-seated homosexual tendencies, you shouldn’t be a priest. I think that the term grooming at the seminary level is very appropriate and very against the teachings of becoming a priest.. I think that the thought of as long as you keep it in check, it’s all fine. Shouldn’t Be allowed either. I have personal experience in a parish where the pastor was arrested for trying to meet up with a young boy that was really an undercover agent … they found that he had been living a life on the back of the Catholic Church…. I’ve known two bishops in my diocese that had been whispered about as being homosexual… I see nothing wrong with Pope Francis telling those that are grooming the young man that wants to become priest to stop this behavior and focus on Christ and your vocation and you’re calling…. Otherwise they should not be in those positions.

When you know the story of Bella Dodd secretly working for the Freemasons to recruit less than ideal men to the priesthood to bring the Church down, and you understand that spiritual warfare is all around, then. It makes even more sense to not perpetuate men who are already struggling with such tendencies to attempt to become priests, no matter how faithful they are trying to be.

Unless you have actual evidence of those two bishops and the gossip and whispers of them being gay then you have committed a grave sin by repeating said gossip

I just came across this episode just now - watched it - and I have read up on the latest statement coming from His Holiness in recent days..... AS a person who, 'once upon a time'.... has spent a short time in seminary in early years of formation - and who also left seminary voluntarily, so not to live a 'double edged sword' - soto speak - and since as an openly gay man - IF I had chosen to stay in seminary and pursue discernment of a ordained vocation - I would have whole heartly kept my promises of chasity and celibacy - that I had no issue with at all - but when I was told I would have to denounce my 'person' and ideals....well I couldn;t and that is what led me to leave seminary - if a man is faithful to promises of chasity and celibacy both thru years of formation and in their priesthood - who cares what sexual orientation their inner core is..... that is my stance which I stick to - thanks

But a persons sexuality is not WHO they are. Sex is an action, a choice, a behavior. Even if a person has sex every day…sex is only 0.2% of what they do. Yet people have been programmed to completely identify with taking their pants off. It doesn’t matter how many times the TV tries to tell people they were “born this way”…it’s just objectively not true. (Dozens of studies have proven this). And, there are countless testimonies of men and women who chose God, left their worldly desires and became as God created them to be.

Disorder is disorder. We are seeing the effects of where priests or seminarians seek comfort for their disorders and temptations. Whether it involves sex, alcohol, food…etc. The laity notice these things. Where it involves sex, we have scandals. Where it is alcohol or food it involves health issues that effect the longevity of their vocation. Just saying…. Stress is a big factor there.

I stopped at the 10:17 mark because I heard Pope Francis's words thrown around twice. I am by no means a pope-splainer etc. but PF should not be taken out of context. PF didn't just say "who am I to judge?" In context, the full quote is Jul 29, 2013 ... "If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?" His statement was a conditional one, not an unconditional one. This is altogether an independent thing from the statement he made to the bishops last week.

I think that back in the days when Priests had high regard in the public eye and men with SSA were still stigmatized in the culture, many men with SSA went into the priesthood and a subculture developed around their common sexuality. The hypersexuality of that subculture is the big problem where you get the abuse of fellow priests, seminarians, and children. I think that's waning now as people with SSA have no need to hide in holy orders, and seminaries are more keen on rooting these people out. I think that's what the Pope was joking about here in a morbid sort of dark humor. Obviously, he was talking to these sort of priests, now bishops, who were trying to open the seminaries back up to SSA men. It was his way of shutting them down while acknowledging the extent of the problem.

think people should lighten up on Francis for his gaffe. All of us have occasions where we might have chosen better words. For example, Ryan perhaps could reconsider his definition of true fatherhood . The world is full of men who have been wonderful fathers to children they didn't sire, adoptive fathers, relatives or friends who step in for lost fathers, stepfathers, St. Joseph comes to mind, and others. Being gay does not prevent a person from having the attributes of loving, responsible parenthood. It may be that the gay parent may be particularily sensitive to his childs feelings if he has experienced the difficulties of being different from others. As for the " masculine heart", what the heck is that? Are males born with same sex attraction less masculine than straight men? I am sure you did not mean to promote the stereotype that gay men are uninterested in the same things that heterosexual men are. Obviously chasing women is not one of them, however lacking that desire often makes for close female friendships, in my experience. We all have our crosses to bear, priests included. I think if a man feels a vocation to serve God and is able to live within Church teachings, it should not preclude him from entering the priesthood. Otherwise you may have to accept women priests to keep our parishes open.
