The oil is Blessed oil, which was burned during the Mass in an oil lamp before the relic image of the Holy Face. The relic image was touched to the True Cross, the Spear of Longinus and Veronica’s Veil. Venerable Leo DuPont would anoint those who came to his parlor with the oil that came from his lamp and offer the blessing recited here.
