The glycol learning curve is real. I’ve made a couple of big beer popsicles with my Spike cooling coil/glycol chiller.

Great job! Floating my mouse over this video before I had a chance to watch it, I really thought you were playing a horn instrument at you bar area before actually getting to watch the video. Great info also on the glycol chilling temp issues as I would expect that to be extremely useful information for anyone getting into glycol chilling systems.

Very nicely done Brian as always. Did I see some coloured lights there?! Great to see some humour too!! Clearly Blichmann have a well a well thought out product here.

That was great. I'm just about to try the cooling kit, but only for ale fermentation. Maybe I'll crank it down for a cold crash and keep my eye out for that ice. I really appreciate your heads up on these sorts of things; sure beats going in blind.

Great video! I have 2 Spike conicals now (CF5 and CF10). I'll be keeping those, for the time being, because the Blichmann's that I want are out of stock. I plan on getting 2 -14 gallons and maybe one larger. I also plan to order a new 2V Blichmann system. I really like the idea of the sight glass/tube. I am not worried about the light since I ferment in a walk-in-cooler.

Yeah same here on the sight glass. 👍🍻

Excellent video, thank you! I bought two of them with everything. I did not put the triangle plate on because mine are side-by-side and I can get them closer without the plate. They roll easily and are solid, The issue I'm having and Blichmann is aware of a lid seal problem is keeping pressure above 10 psi. When my G4's became available they told me they were not able to get above 10 psi in testing and were going to get us new lid gaskets when they solved the issue. Don't have them yet. All else is good. I was able to dial in the spunding valve once I put a hose on it and could see the bubbles in the sani. Then I could get the pressure relief set exactly. I have an IPA in one and a Czech Pilsner in the other and the IPA was done in 10 days. The pilsner is still fermenting after 14 days. I also didn't know I was supposed to run the glycol chiller so cold, going to lower it now. Cheers!

Nice! They did just get he seals in and have done the testing. You should get a replacement soon. Mines on the way

I’m really looking forward to the sight tube to be released in Europe. I will modify it slightly to fit my old G3 conical. I’m not worried about light effects because the fermenters are in a dark place most of the time. Cheers for the Video mate!

Great video Brian thanks! Definitely would be buying the cooling kit. Love the trombone style coil instead of the spiral type. If that dude interrupts you again during a review you should definitely cut him off and turf him from your bar! 🤣

Great overview. I have the Spike CF-10. What would be cool is if you can use Blichmann's cooling coil vs Spike's. If the performance is about the same, I like how Blichmann's might be easier to clean, plus the added benefit of an extra port since my CF-10 has the older style 1 port lid. Plus it's a trombone man. 😎
@ShortCircuitedBrewers2 жыл бұрын
Cf-10 is a good system too. 👍🍻

curious how you think dry hopping would go? It looks like you would have to remove a lot of accessories to get hops in through the top
@ShortCircuitedBrewers3 жыл бұрын
If I recently did a video on dry hopping with the G4 with a device from Brewers hardware. No need to remove the lid or let the pressure off. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqimqKmpp7GYnNk

Any plans for a Blichmann “Aromanator” review to go with the fermenter? Can’t find anything online reviewing this new accessory from Blichmann.

So blichmann doesn’t want to hear it, but that ice problem is really a design flaw. Right around 40F the hot spot of the conical moves from the top to the bottom of the conical. Better designed coils will allow you to switch the flow direction of the glycol so it heads strait to the bottom and then coils on its way up. This will stop the ice problem and let you get the tank colder… if you have the coil from spike or SSBT

Thanks for the comment. Do you own one of the other ones?
