Hey all! Hope you're all having a wonderful December, looks like our Guide is back to talk about a relatively new monster to DnD by all accounts... the Blight! The sad part about being a new monster, though, is there isn't exactly a ton of lore to dive into.. And the Guide doesn't like not knowing things. Anyways, enjoy! And as always thanks to the FR wiki and the artists who make these videos look much better than they normally would!

Cool video. I feel like these guys were a thing in 2e though. I wanna say in the Ravenloft monster compendium..

@@KS-PNW Hmm, that's actually possible. I mainly only research using Forgotten Realms resources. TBH I didn't consider checking Ravenloft (which would make sense in this instance) Thanks for the heads up :)

@@dungeonguide6015 I could be wrong, I just remember their being a section with a few plant based monsters, I wanna say these guys, evil treants and some kind of hangman's tree creature.. Anyway really enjoying your channel, thanks again

Love the concept of corrupted sentient plants and trees, entangling their victims and piercing their flesh with their very bodies. It's always been such a cool concept, though I do wish their lore went deeper, I feel like Blights have a lot of unused potential. I really hope it gets expanded on. I'm really new to D&D, haven't actually played yet, just been exploring lore and art, but I'm loving it so far. Great job doing what you did with the little you had to work with though, really enjoying all of your guide videos!

Thank you so much! And yeah I completely agree with you, a lot of room for improvement when it comes to their lore. I like the whole "Vampire Blood" history behind them, I just wish it was extrapolated on! But yeah, thanks again for the kind words :)

@@dungeonguide6015 No problem, I'm excited to learn more about D&D! So glad channels like yours exist to help people learn more about the universe.

So the existence of blights, while may not be dangerous in themselves, represent the possible existence of something terrible.

Good video! Knew next to nothing about blights and it gave some inspiration to my own campaign. Cheers!

That's precisely why I do these! I'm glad I could help even a little bit :D :D Thanks for the kind words and have a great dayyyy

this is really good, I would give more info on how they act, and maybe instances in combat

I said this before, but I wonder how cool it would be to have a variant/companion monster to the blight that was created from a non-corrupting force. Since the first blight tree was made from the will of a dead vampire, what would happen if one was made from the will of an equally powerful yet benevolent being? Could be a neat homebrew idea idk.
